Sub For Sub?

the only time I've subbed people who commented, is if they mentioned a video they did that covered a similar topic, or they subbed and say they have worked on something thanks to a tip of mine etc. Its a very polite way to go about it.

so comment on a video similar to your own, comment about that video, and on a side note mention that you are working on something similar. then they might check it out since its not harassing them like S4S comments usually do.

if I get sub4sub comments i just ignore them, especially if they havent taken the time to even use that comment to comment on the video or my channel.

Hey guys. So i'm apart of another Youtube forum geared towards beauty bloggers. On there I posted a thread asking about weather or not to use personal social media for youtube. In there I mentioned something about sub for sub and got some feed back.

So it got me thinking, what are your views on sub for sub? Do you post sub for sub comments? If not, how do you react when you get them?
Honestly I considered it after first reading about it, but I've never done it and never will.

I "think" websites like socialblade lower your ranking if you do that, and maybe even youtube may detect it. I know youtube uses statistical algorithms to detect "real views" for example. Maybe they don't do this for sub for sub but I imagine they have some built in mechanism to detect this. I've noticed A LOT of channels with way more subscribers than me with way less views, is it sub for sub or are people just not subscribing to me? It's hard to tell. Currently less than 6% of my views come from subscribers, so while it's nice to have subscribers I think views are better, and with that in time the subscribers should come, in theory, we shall see! It just doesn't seem worth doing.

Your channel is very young. YouTube rewards for persistence and being focused on one topic. If you keep going you may surpass our channel in less than an year!
And yes I am sure YouTube uses statistical methods to evaluate sub4sub probability. All of the YouTube algorithm is statistics and some common human sense. :)

To me, sub for sub doesn't make much sense. It's just a way to build numbers. But if I sub to someone but I'm not interested in their videos (and vice versa) then having larger sub numbers makes no difference. Views matter more than subs. When someone subs to me I generally check out their channel, but not necessarily sub.

Even little old me has had a couple of channels come along, subbing because of one video they apparently 'liked' and just happen to mention their channel at the same time in the comment - how bloody convenient! Never subbed back!

I usually ignore sub for sub comments now or I'll tell them that it doesn't help anyone. Sometimes it's best to educate someone to prevent the "disease" from spreading.

Thanks for the kind words, it's motivating!! I just checked out your channel and it's awesome and super popular. If I could even achieve 10% of that, that would be great!!

Sub 4 sub essentially is what people do when they think that if they have a lot of subs, that it will help their channel or videos. But what they do not realize is that nobody watches their videos and that eventually people either unsub or just are not active. Once people wise up on the whole "sub count does nothing for you if they don't like your stuff" sub for sub will be a thing of the past. To be honest I find it somewhat easy to get subs without sub 4 sub despite having less than 20 subs. I do my best to be apart of communities and people sometimes sub. Either cause they like my stuff or they are being nice, not sure which. But I can say it is a lot more rewarding than sub 4 sub.
