Sub For Sub?

Thats true. I think people can just be really cruel tho to people who aren't being deceiving. Just being plain old mean but if thats not what they do then i guess its alright.
Well some do, some don't - it's a bit of a free-for-all. As I said I generally don't participate in those threads anyway - I stick to the non Guru stuff and now mostly gossiping about all the male YouTubers who have been involved in alleged sexual offenses against fans / other YouTubers.

Oh yeah it was a huge scandal back in March ... don't know if you know any of the YouTubers accused but there was Alex Day (Nerimon), Alex Carpenter, Luke Conard, Tom Milsom, Danny Hooper, Sam Pepper and Jason Viohni. Some were accusations of inappropriate behavior with underaged fans. Others were accused of sexual and emotional manipulation of fans and/or YouTuber girlfriends (not always underaged). In either case, I was a fan of several of them and it broke my heart when the news came out.

Pointless.. It will inflate your sub count and you'll have more subs than views eventually. Doesn't look good & it will kill the channel of anyone who does it as they'll sub and never watch your feeds.. Essentially just becoming a pointless number on your sub count.. 9 times out of 10 that person will also unsub eventually so, like I said, pointless. People who do it are only fooling themselves & I've seen that most people doing it are younger users that want the fame and fortune that a successful channel can bring. I delete sub4sub comments or any spammy type comments at all.

I think its nicer to have subscribers who are actually interested in your videos than have a number. I mean if you're not actually gonna watch the content on the channel, what is the point?

Sub 4 sub...
Totally agree with what everyone here has been saying, in the long run it doesn't help much. I can speak from experience lol I am new to youtube so I thought that was what you were supposed to do to promote your channel but I've learned that it only leads to people who ultimately won't watch your videos and when people do it to my channel it does bother me a little because it feels cheap? I don't have anything against it but most of the time people that do it are not serious about youtube, only serious about getting subscribers. One thing I'm learning is getting noticed and getting a loyal following on youtube is not an overnight fix, it takes time & an incredibly amount of patience. But everyone I've talked to has been so sweet & awesome! You just have to hang in there & keep doing what you love, eventually people will find you :)

I consider it spam when people put it, Youtube also hates it. As others have mentioned it also gives you a dead subscriber, someone who won't want to come see your videos. Ideally you'd want a person that subs you because of whatever type of content you put out, more subs = more watch time which then gets you more exposure on youtube.

Sub for Sub can be effective if both users are into each others videos. For instance, if two guitar builders subbed to each other, it would be benificial to see each others videos and learn from each other. However if your sub is never going to watch or share your videos, because they don't interest them, then what's the point?
