How do you keep going?

GrgakGames

Phoenix Games Enthusiast (Please end my life)
I got to say that after about half a year i'm starting to get a little unmotivated to do an episode of GrgakGames or anything for that matter.

It's not that I don't like doing it, if I didn't like it I wouldn't have made 26 episodes of just GrgakGames.

but a few reasons i'm just sort of out of it lately is

1. My laptop is old and can barely run my editing software (more my fault as I hate upgrading. Had this laptop now for about 9 years)

2. A lot of content uploaded every day on YouTube is utter garbage. Either it's let's plays or compilation videos that don't source the original creators.

3. YouTube creators are mostly scumbags who only talk to you so they can get their channels to grow

I'm not saying that all of these are always bad.

I've seen let's players even on here that have great channels and funny content but the majority is just disgusting. (Adding those generic intros, barely talking in the video, etc)

I have had people ask to collab with me without even knowing what I do. I don't hate collaborating, I actually did a small one a few weeks ago. BUT there are specific channels that are just horrible about this. (vloggers are the worst offenders, nobody even knows what I look like how would you vlog with me wtf)

Not to mention one person in particular a while ago messaged me over twitter asking to collab but around that time I couldn't really do much as I was sick so I had to decline.
and boy he god steemed, started calling me a commie and other things that I probably shouldn't talk about on here.

Maybe I just need a small break. I dunno.

How do you guys keep going? (No humble brags)

First of all I don't understand that the fact that a lot of garbage gets uploaded effects you and your motivation.
Anything that has to do with what other people do shouldn't effect your motivation.

About myself:
After now 2,5 years I am not having so much fun anymore making the videos and I'm always glad once they are done.
However, once they are uploaded I am super excited to see how they get views and how my channel growths and I still have so so many ideas for new videos. So I still do it, even if I kind of have to force myself sometimes. Just having the vision where my channel could be in a few years keeps me going.
I'm now at constantly over 4000 views per day. If my channel wouldn't be as successful, I probably would have already stopped doing it.

It's more that there are so many of them that it's a bit overwhelming.

Hard to explain.

Do you think your channel is still going to go strong after another year? and if not what will you do then?

Well yes, there certainly are a lot of gaming channels. Herd business I guess ;)
I am very confident that my channel is going strong if I continue the way I do it now. I see no reason why it shouldn't. That's why I continue. I know that I would be upset on myself later if I stop.
It isn't too hard to get good amounts of views for Reviews and Tutorials.

I have spurts where I don't upload very much, I don't do episode stuff so me getting good video to upload is more of a spur of the moment thing so I don't feel pressured. If I don't feel motivated to do videos, I just take a break. I'm currently on one of those breaks actually. Lately I have been trying to think of random video ideas to create instead of just catching dogs doing funny stuff, but I'm stumped. I have one idea of getting free stuff off of Craigslist and somehow destroying it, but I'm not sure how I'd destroy it that would be cool. I don't have guns or a hydraulic press, so I need to get creative I guess.

It's hard to stay motivated when videos only get 1-20 views (20 if you're lucky). I don't know if I was just bad about promotion this whole time, wasn't consistent enough, or my videos are just bad, but I have done very little growing in almost 3 years. The sheer numbers are very crushing to my motivation. And soul (so I'll need a new one from somewhere). I still keep doing it though because luck is a HUGE part of it. All it takes is one person to like your crap and then they will share it and it might spread from there. I'm hoping one of my scripted videos gets me over.

No! Sorry but you can't quit. I hate Youtube at the moment and rarely watch anything, but still watch every episode you put on. I may be the kind of person that demotivates you, but I still love your channel and your relentless hate against Phoenix games. You might hate the fact I am a fan, but I am so there you go.

I had a laptop that was being killed off by editing though. The smell it made was ridiculous. So I do understand that. But if everyone else is doing garbage then surely you need to carry on to keep the overall level of Youtube up? At least in your eyes.

I don't understand that channel and why it's so fun to watch lol

Yeah I'm thinking about cutting out the schedule for a bit and relaxing.

Im just starting but this made me feel sad lmao. What if one day I just dont care and it is all a waste

I think part of having a good YouTube channel is not caring a bit.
It helps not stress you out

Just sucks that most of us can't do that (me included)

Just look at it really negatively.

(I will just upload this video and everyone will hate it and tell me to never do this again)

Then when you upload it and those comments are not there or just really rare it helps.

that's what I do at least lol

NO THAT'S ACTUALLY REALLY COOL THAT YOU LIKE MY VIDEOS.

Seriously that's never the issue, it's great that you and a few others really like my stuff man.

My content could be A LOT better honestly. I just think I need newer equipment, especially a better computer. It's hard making a 10 minute video when your computer blue screens halfway through editing.

I really do hate Phoenix Games, There is like 35 hours of footage and all of it I hate.

Im also in the boat with the other guy he said he likes your videos. I binge watched a solid 6 of them a few nights ago and have watched a few more since and loved them all
