Freedom Lied To Me!

i was told by the staff at the ''freedom'' network that they could get me out of my contract with tgn. well they did for like a week, then this happened:

now my channel is in some weird state of flux where i cannot monetize anything!!
i'm going to move o n from this and work on my other things, but
DO NOT JOIN THEM IT WILL MESS UP YOUR CHANNEL

Sounds like a real hell :/
it is! after talking with one of the guys at freedom, they told me that i should have known this would happen because i was on a "lockin" contract.
it's like they totally changed their tune as soon as this happened. i'm not saying this is totally their fault but you would expect not to be lied to or for someone running things over there to know whats going on.
they told me they could get me out of my lockin contract because it wasn't valid as long as i was downgraded. now my channel is screwed and no one will help me.

Interesting. I was unaware that MCN's could try to force a link swap like that. @Shane.C any comments?

Now, we've had a fair amount of Freedom discussion around here. The rhetoric about how the affiliate changes invalidate contracts is laughable, which I said back when that claim was made by George. So I agree with the message from YouTube and that you're not out of your contract.

However, I will make one observation. Your post indicates you cannot monetize content. You need to contact BBTV to ensure that gets resolved. Being unable to monetize content would in fact breach their contract if left for any longer than the usual YouTube processing delays as monetization is a crucial element of every network contract. They can't just leave you without the ability to monetize and yet keep your channel locked to their MCN.

The only way they could link you to another MCN without you having to accept a link request is if 1) Freedom was just a Content Owner of the BBTV MCN 2) The Freedom MCN was applied for via BBTV and is therefore "under them" in the eyes of YouTube.

There is a 3) which is that YouTube got involved but that is very, very unlikely.

This is weird, but it sounds like Freedom doesn't have the roll up tool and is using a dedicated partner manager...

They do have the CRT, just not the same version most MCNs have.

This requires them to email YouTube support for any channels they need to link that have ever been connected to an Adsense account (so monetization or with a network)
