Do you use custom thumbnails?

I use them if neither of the 3 automatically chosen frames are good enough and when I do, it is a screen shot from a different part of the video. About half the time they are perfect. My most popular video has the best thumbnail I could possibly give it and it was automatically generated when I uploaded it. I find I'm hesitant to click on one with an image obviously not from the actual video, especially if it has large text on it. It feels click-baitish to me and like I'm not going to get what they are promising, like they are trying to hide their video's content with smoke and mirrors.

Yes, I use a template and I use a snippet of a screenshot of my own if it's a game video. For random crap like micro-vlog that is rare, I don't bother.

Yes as I think it give the video a bit more flare and also gives the audiences a bit more to go on when there looking for a video to watch.

Personally I use custom thumbs for all my videos. Can't say if they make a difference, but they're fun to make and I love when I end up with ones that really just 'pop'.

I dont know how anybody can go without a custom thumbnail! :D
The thought of having to pick one of 3 random screenshots from the video scares my slightly ocd heart :P

Its actually a pet peeve of mine when i see a channel without a custom thumbnail

Definitely, since the thumbnail is the first thing I notice personally and gives a professional look to your channel. Both the thumbnail and title are two factors on which I will decide to watch a video or not.
That and I just really like making thumbnails :D
