Your Thoughts About Shoutouts?

I would only give a shoutout to someone with a smaller audience than mine, and that I enjoy their content.

I don't like the idea of it. In my eyes, it makes the person who does it come off as amateur. I'd never do that on my channel. Hell, I didn't even want to box people at first. That's how professional I want to look.

So... No, I don't like shoutouts.

Amen, thats exactly what I feel like! I told my subscribers that I would give people shoutouts if they were subs and a few days later I took that back because I think that it is kind of selfish in a way.

I watched a big YouTuber giving shoutouts to a different channel at the end of every video, which I thought was cool, but then I noticed that you couldn't click on the name that was displayed on the screen (and it's not like he didn't know how to make links ;)). It made me think that he rather wanted the viewers to click other videos of his. It's like saying "Hey, I'm a good person for doing shoutouts, but don't actually go and watch other people."

Maybe they had the links in the description. I don't put clickable annotations on the screen either.
I would think that if you really wanted to help the other channels out, you'd make it as easy as possible for the viewers to get there. He linked to a lot of other stuff, so why not link the shoutouts? I just thought it was a bit weird.

I mostly shout out people I know or are related to me in some way. Like 'I was talking to 'so and so' and I think that...' or 'i saw so and so's video and inspired me to do...' or like 'omg so and so was right, that movie did suck!'. I ocassionaly do videos that are about shout outs with the links to the video and all that, but they're my fellow youtube friends or people I always watch.

I kinda prefer shout outs when they're natural, someone likes you or your videos that much to drop your name. It's way better than begging for one, cause when they do it, it's not a big deal... they're just doing it cause you asked them to.

One of the best shoutouts I ever got was last year or so when we asked people to drop their top 5 favorite moments of our show. This (at the time) random dude that I never heard of actually made a video about his top 5. We're good friends now, but at the time it blew my mind that this guy took the time out to make a whole video out of his choices.
