Just a sk8r gurl (or a gamer dude)
I personally like when people do shoutouts when they want to help smaller Youtubers. However there is a fine line between doing that and wanting to benefit themselves. I was recently contacted on Youtube if I wanted to join this guys shoutout series. I then said I would check it out until I realized I had to sub to him and a whole bunch of other stuff.

If you want to do shoutouts do it because you sincerely like that persons content not because you want subs or likes.

Your guys opinons?

I think it shouldnt be done but ONLY if you respect that person and like their stuff. Its your credibility thats on the line. It could be a great thing also cuz If you give a shoutout to some quality work, it brings your youtube cred up, I think anyways.

That's what I am saying. I think you should only do shoutouts for people you enjoy :)

There was this guy who had a channel and it was called TheShoutOutShow I think he deleted his channel, it was cool tho, he basically made shout out videos to people who subscribed to him, nothing more, if people tell you, in order to get a shout out you must follow me on my social networks, i personally am against that.

im actually thinking about giving shout outs on my channel, Like... i create reaction videos and parodys, i am going to start this new thing, where someone either comments me a request of a parody of suggest any type of video for me to react to, then i had an idea of showing there comment at the start of the video before the actual video had started, just an idea i had, i may start that soon. but i would never tell the person that they have to like and subscribe to me in order to get a shoutout, im against that.

Sounds like a good idea! I would go for that.

99% of people who do shoutouts on their channel are doing it to benefit themselves. Majority of the time it requires you to subscribe to their channel. They think it will actually help out their channel, but in the long run it doesn't help much at all.

I used to do a weekly shoutout series on my channel back when I first was getting started. I'm not going to lie, I was hoping it would help out my channel some. I did enjoy helping out others though. One of my requirements was to be subscribed, and active with my channel. Once I gave people their shout outs, they stopped interacting with my channel all together. No more comments, likes, messages, tweets, nothing. Most probably unsubscribed. I noticed people were just using me, so I stopped doing shout outs all together.

The only time I give shoutouts now is if I truly feel like the person deserves it. I'm even planning on giving some shout outs to those who are most engaged with my channel, since I now have the Top Fans feature unlocked. I already gave my most engaged subscriber a shout out on twitter.

I have a strong opinion on this. My buddy who has a channel, he had 800 subs and made a video about Seananners. Seananners ended up seeing the video, and commented on it with ";)". That one little face brought over 1100 subscribers to his channel. The video ended up getting 100k views on it and then within two weeks he was back to 20 views a video.

IMO, shoutouts do nothing for the long term. Sure, they bring in a few people who actually will stay active, but, in the most part, they aren't worth much. I know it wasn't really a "shoutout", but, even saying "go sub to this channel cuz they are awesome" brings the same thing.
