Your Backup Solution?

If you want a HD that works both on Mac & Windows bud then you'r limiting yourself already. As there are only 2 HDs released from a decent/well-known brand (Western Digital)
But if you wanted a HD for each PCs; Mac & Windows then it can be done. You should be able to get 2 decent HDs bud.

What do you want to do?

Hmm, well considering I go back and forth between uni and home a lot, and uni is all macs and I have all microsoft at home, I'd be interested to know what the two hard drives from WD are? :)

Hey HiJoshua, its good to hear from you bud. Give us a minute and I shall check around for you. Also with a budget between $150-$200 you should be able to get 2 decent HDs.
I assume Uni will need to have more storage as you are studying and video files can be huge. So I shall bare that in mind. Also there are two types of HDs;- Portable & Desktop. Ideally Uni HDs should be Portable which means you only require a USB Port for the HD to work. But for home I recommend using a Desktop which requires a Power Socket & USB Port. So I shall also bare that into mind.

Give us few minutes bud and I shall get back to you. :)

I've just been using Dropbox, but this thread has got me making another backup on my external HDD haha :D No harm in creating an extra backup I'm sure :)

Hey SubjectSarah how are you doing? It's good to see this thread has helped you :)
And no there's no harm on creating extra backups. Actually you should setup a "Schedule" backup daily for instance as your important files/folders will be backed up automatically.

Hey, can't complain thanks hope you're doing well too. :) Yeah I use Dropbox which is excellent, but I think it'll definitely be worth having an extra backup just in case- as this thread points out, online companies could always go bust or have an internal failure one day. So I made a backup of my backup hahaha :D

Hey, its good to hear your good :bounce: . I have numerous backups as I have many HDs mainly External but one is Internal but it's connected to a docking station which has a "schedule" backup plan. I've never used dropbox as it will take only few seconds for me to fill the storage for a "free" user. One 720p video is just over 4gb's lols.

Definitely, videos can take up a lot of space. I have one of the Dropbox subscriptions which I think is great for the space and cloud-style convenience, but I know that subscription storage services aren't for everyone. It took me a few weeks of umming and ahhing before taking the plunge and subscribing. I'm pleased I did it though, and would recommend it to anyone thinking about getting it; it has been incredibly useful and worth it to me time and again, but I figure there's always no harm in backing up the backup!! :D:D

Hey, I'm using Drapbox as a "free" user and its great, you can download the App almost on any platform whether it's on a desktop pc, android, tablet etc just amazing. But for me it won't be ideal as I have large files. Currently my YouTube Folder is over 600gb! lols
