Why do people react so strangely to criticism?

I welcome any and all feedback on my videos, especially ones with my voice on it because I do want to improve on how to be a more efficient LPer. Criticism is good for the artist if it isn't overly negative with a slew of insults and non-constructive feedback.

"I think you should [Ideas and suggestions here] to improve your [subject of improvement here]" -Good criticism

"You suck and should not be using a mic, I hate the tone of your voice! Go die!" -Negative criticism

"f**k YOU *******, [Insert popular YTer here] IS BETTER AND YOU SUCK DICKS" -Extremely negative criticism

I also wish many Youtubers, especially the very big ones would stop treating minor criticism as a huge issue and having their little fanboys and girls do the filthy work (IE Pewdiepie's for example) by swarming the user with insults and death threats.
 
People these days are just rude and do not know how to give constructive criticism rather they just want to make themselves look good.
 
Well, people just don't like to be told that what they're doing has plenty of room for improvement. You can't put everybody under this category, though. Not EVERYONE hates criticism.

...But Simon Cowell does get quite a lot of booing.
 
I think it really depends on how it is phrased. If someone says "I liked xxxxx part! Maybe try doing xxxx and your videos will be even better?", the user will most likely listen. But if someone says, "Dont do xxxx, do this xxxxx", people will not take it as well.
 
I absolutely love constructive criticism and would be thrilled to hear more from my audience about what I could improve. However, as others have said, there's a huge difference between "here's an idea to make your videos better"/"this part didn't really work" and "your videos suck therefore you deserve to be raped"/"you're annoying, I hope you get cancer and die."

I always thank people for leaving helpful comments that I can use to improve. Any unnecessarily rude or insulting comments on my videos (i.e. "omg you're laf sownds liek a reterded seel kill youreself lololol") get either a sarcastic reply or I'll simply delete them.
