Why do people react so strangely to criticism?

It's a little difficult to consider criticism, because if you have tons of "This is awesome!" then one person giving some criticism, which do you follow? Do you change what you do to make it 'better' even though the majority love the way you do things already?
So it depends on a lot of things, i guess that's why many people say they're a troll.

What i hate, is when someone dislikes but posts no reason to why they disliked it. Like sheesh, i WOULD like some criticism along with the dislike. :giggle:

What pisses me off even more is when people ask for criticism/advice and when you do, they get annoyed because they expect to get responses like "Oh no, your videos are perfect and you deserve 1 million views a day!"

I can accept criticism and make my videos better when I know that it is like constructive criticism. When someone is just trying to be hateful or just says, "This sucks," how can you improve from that? You don't know what you are doing wrong. Some people even criticize just for the sake of criticizing. I'm kind of glad I really don't get hardly any criticism on my channel though anyway but I see plenty of people on the Internet just criticizing every little thing just because they are being trolls.

But at the same time, why let 'this sucks' offend you? If it isn't constructive, ignore it altogether!

I think its more to do with the IQ level of comment writers on youtube, its super rare to find actual constructive criticism on youtube. Its usually a sentence that a 5 year old with a bad mouth could string together

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I don't worry about that either. I just prefer to see constructive criticism around youtube, wether it is my video or someone else's. But I don't worry about the bad criticism anyway! :D

Maybe because people no longer know how to give good criticism. Not everyone gives good criticism like Frankie a.o.
Fair enough, there are a bunch of little kids just posting hate comments because they were bored. But where do you draw the line from "good criticism" to "bad criticism?" What makes some negative legitimate, and others not?

That's the million dollar question.

People just don't like being told that what they're doing, is wrong. But I see where you're coming from! It might be the way you are criticizing them.

99% of the time that someone leaves negative feedback; it's not constructive criticism. I've had people say I sound like a retard, I stole this idea from ___, and that they had to mute me. I've only had constructive criticism left in a comment MAYBE once. With that being said, try to take advantage of constructive criticism when you get it. It definitely improved my channel a lot by listening to CC.

If someone leaves criticism and I feel like it's not constructive, i'll tune them out and label them as a hater.

I find criticism is the best thing for someone who makes something out of nothing, in a community that is doing the same. You need someone to knock you down sometimes, to get stronger. Some times if there is no foundation to what they deem/class as criticism, then that is why sometimes people make take offense.
