when does promoting cross the line

Loving YTtalk
most people have their own limit to where and how they promote their videos a lot of people promote in youtube comment sections and force it to top comment through extra accounts and a lot of people think it's the worst thing a youtuber can do. so it's a confusing line which is different for a lot of people so i was just wondering where does your line fall? how far will you go to promote your video?

It crosses the line when people kill people then carve there channel name into the dead guys corpse....Wut? That never happened to you?

Seriously though, promoting crosses the line when people ***** there link out. Saying "Hey man could you check this out?" is fine. But spamming your link every second is a bit too much, don't you agree?

Yeah, people don't respond well to spamming your link in comments. I like to leave comments to get my name out there, but usually about the video, not my channel. I don't think I'll ever just post my link in comments

when they post it on my videos and pm me there videos as a mass spawn mail its one thing to send me your car audio video i might like but another to send me some s****y lady gaga parody and say i was watching your videos and think you might like this

I limit myself to I will never comment on anything asking people to view my channel, and I will never send spam. The farthest I will go is promoting on Omegle, but making sure people only subscribe if they like my videos. :)

You cross the line once you start doing mass sub4sub box4box like4like etc.

You are already promoting your youtube channels whenever you post on here, even if its not youtube related. Once you get VIP Status, you can have your own video in your signature so its advertised every time you post somewhere on the forums.

Also spamming crosses the line, its good to use social media to promote your videos/channels ,but tweeting your new video is up every 5 minutes crosses the line where that kind of promoting doesn't help you, it, in fact, does the opposite as nobody wants to watch a spammers videos.

Crossing theline is like spamming comment sections like wow cool video please check out my channel we are awesome. I hate that so much

If you're resorted to leaving comments/messages, you're crossing the line. I hate people who spam.

It is a fine line, thats for sure. Most people will assume it is a form of spam anytime you mention your channel in any shape or form. Also you have to be very careful when commenting on someone's video because all it takes is a few people to flag your comment for spam and wham bam youtube will suspend you for violating the TOS.
Best thing to do is just let people find you on their own, like you and let them share your videos with their peers otherwise, you are risking your good standing with youtube.
