What can you get away with?

I didn't say I was trying to steal at all, I merely said I read an article saying that it was acceptable. It was in relation to artists creating remixes with songs they own no rights to. How is that legal, but my video mixes aren't?

SuddenlyNinja is right, Youtube states that under no circumstance is it allowed. Whether they care or not isn't of importance.

Yea I get that he's right, I was just trying to clarify that my intention wasn't purposefully to get away with "stealing" a song. It felt like he was attacking me, but I had no clue the reason I wasn't getting copyright strikes was that it was not being detected, I thought it was just legal.

I tend to get carried away in this kind of discussion because of the peculiar stance some people take regarding copyright. It's alright to ask for information, especially if you don't know the subject matter well enough to take an informed decision, but I've witnessed people writing "guides" that gave advice such as: "You can use copyrighted music as long as you state that you didn't intend to breach said copyright!" which is just plain misinformation! It's like me driving away in another person's car while shouting "It's alright, I don't mean to steal this car!" and that would forgive my crime...

I just noticed I wrote my first comment down as if I had known for a fact that it was right. It's quite alright how you approached, I apologize as well, I didn't realize I had stated it that way. I understand perfectly, sorry for coming off whiny if I did, I just didn't want anyone thinking I was stealing purposefully.

see ..i did a 15minute video with a 10 sec intro by stevenjo
5 months ago

and i just got asked to provide info about the music within 14 days.

my question is 2fold.
firstly does the monetization disabling get applied retrospectively
(cos that vid was making about 5-15 bucks a day it's suck hard)

also i already have 2 unrelated strikes one for thumbnail misuse and one for hate speech
(i shouldve read uberdangers guide to offending everyone earlier lol)

how will this affect my account
if i can't wriggle outta this "share of revenue claim" form they want me to do?

also should i wait til the last minute to respond
or do ir earlier
(they gave me 14 days)
