Video anxiety

Hahaha, this made me laugh! That's really great advise though. I don't want to get caught up the numbers of subs and views (it's so easy to get caught in that). I'm doing this for my friends and family and that is what counts. Thanks for grounding me a bit :)

(also, 60? I'm seeing 56!)

Hmmm, that's a good question... I see 58 now... Either two people bailed (how dare they!) or I accidently transposed your "Internet Is Failing Me" video view count with your channel subscriber count... hmmm, I'm guessing it's the latter... Though, now that I think about it, I should have waited to reply until your subscriber count hit 60 and then said, "Nope, it's 60!"

Firstly, congrats on the growth in just 1.5 months!

Secondly, i think there's two things at play here. And both are healthy to an extent. One is you feel the need to upload even if conditions aren't perfect, and that's good because it keeps your audience expecting on a schedule. Someone will always be pleased that you uploaded a new video, even if it's from inside, rather than a few days without one.

But two is, maybe your gut instinct is urging you to stay true to the vision you have for your channel and the quality that you desire for your content.

Maybe the two ideals can co-exist? Create vlogs from indoors sometimes, and explain what you've been up to, even if not much, but maybe the trick can be that you also talk about what you will be doing in future videos, where you are planning to go, and how exciting and cool those plans are!

Viewers will see the enthusiasm and excitement and will stay tuned for those adventures!

Just an idea? :)

Yeah, it went up again while we were having this discussion :p I think you indeed mistook the views for subs ;) It's kinda weird, cause I had some subscriber growth in the past two days, yet my last two videos kinda bombed n.n"

This is quite a good idea. I should tell my viewers a bit more about what they can expect. I always realize that I left out announcements when I'm editting. I still haven't told them I made a Twitter xD I always forget to mention those things.

ive been doin this the same amount of time as you,and i aslo get anxious sometime abt the quality of my videos or content, but what ive seen is when im making my content with all these thoughts in my mind people identifies it through my video and thats when they get annoyed,so one day i took a day off and watched few motivational videos and with a fresh outlook i made a normal video the next day,i noticed that the same people were praising me for my content.
so for now when i run into these feelings of anxiety and etc,i read the positive comments and watch few motivational videos to get over it and it helps me evry time.
Doing what we love regardless of the future results is the key(i think)

Hey everyone~

So I'm about 1,5 month into doing Youtube and the first rush of 'everything is new and awesome!' is over. I'm starting to feel some anxiety about my videos. It worries me that they might be too boring, since some times I just don't have time (or energy) to go somewhere and the vlog ends up just being me talking to a camera.
I'm also not always very comfortable with filming/vlogging outside (especially when there are people around) and then I end up just telling what happened when I'm back in my room, instead of showing it.

I'm scared people are getting bored of seeing me in the same environment over and over again and feel almost forced to plan things every week in an effort to produce content. However, this was never the aim of my channel. I just want to shared what I do every week, which in some weeks might not be that much.

So, how do you guys deal with feeling anxitious about your videos? Do you have any tricks or tips? I'd be very grateful.

I've said this a number of times in various similar threads. The thing is, your videos will change with the more experience you have being in front of the camera. Your body language, tone, and personality will become more 'you' if you like. It's a very anxious time when just starting out, and you can become hyper critical of yourself. I'm here to tell you it's fine, and completely normal. If you want to see how these changes occur, just go and watch my first ever video and my latest. You'll see a dramatic change in how I behave. I don't even think about the camera now, I just do it. It took me a few months to get to this stage though, because of how self conscious I felt (and I'm a confident person!) Give it time, keep working on it, learn new editing tricks, and just improve as you go along. I guarantee in a few months time you'll see a difference in your videos. Not that there's anything wrong with your videos at all, I'm just saying that you will change with experience. ☺

P.s your accent is hot!

People will complain about all the things you mention. The reason why big vloggers are big as they are is because they end up filming in very diverse settings. But that also goes for auto reviewers such as myself. I do not have the time to go out in the sticks to film my reviews. I use the same boring stretch of road. People don't like it and it probably harms my potential but it is what it is. I do not have the ability to step it up because I do not have the time to do so. I slowed my roll on YouTube for a reason, because it was taking time away from the family and other things I love doing (playing video games, movie night with the wife etc).

Remember that you do it for 2 reasons.

1. For yourself, plain and simple.
2. For the people that love your content.

The people that don't like it? Nope, not on the list.

I feel less awkward talking to a camera, but I'm way to insecure about stuff like pronunciation and comping up with ideas to work out. Especially lengthy videos I find difficult and awkward to edit because i'm not sure if people will like it

That's so cool that your audience actually picks up on this. Must be very motivational!

Yeah, I know this, but it still is hard to see the progress :p Also, thanks, I guess xD I'm not really sure what my accent is exactly xD

Well, nobody has complained (yet). I kinda wish they would, because now it is just me stressing myself out xD And yes, I really try to keep myself focussed on the people I make the videos for, not the other audience I might gather.

Welcome to my life xD Sometimes it is so hard to tell a story in a second language, because I have to pause for words. It's really annoying :/ But one of the reasons I came to England is to get fluent in the language, so YT is good practice :)

Hey Dutchie in England!

I think we all feel anxious in anything we do that is new. Its a beginning. I still feel anxious as heck when I'm recording myself with a camera. It feels unnatural sometimes. It's definitely something I need to get better at. Its a process. We're all eventually going to get better!

Watched and subbed. You have a great personality on camera. Got you back at 60 subs, cough cough I'm the 60th subscriber!!!

I really believe we're going to all have a breakthrough in this YouTube journey! Yippeee!

Oh thank you so much! That is so kind of you n.n And yes, I think that it is a learning process indeed. I just shouldn't lose faith :)
