To post or not to post.

Liking YTtalk
So I've made my video for the week but, I haven't uploaded it yet. I have found myself hesitating on posting it to youtube. It just seems like a meh video, or like the idea was the there but the execution a little off. Anyways my question to you guys is if you guys would post a mediocre video for the sake of consistency?

Tbh though I will in all likelihood post the video, but thought I would get some opinions?

Can you redo it on short term? If not, I think I would upload the video if you promised to do so anyway. Maybe you can refer to that video in your next video and say that you liked the idea but that you were a bit unhappy with the execution. I think your viewers will accept that and it makes you look human :)

Yeah I think I may just do that! Maybe I will put something in the description. Thanks!!

I think that's fine! Of course your viewers expect good content (well, I guess?:D) but you are not a robot, so there will be some good and some less good videos.

You could also consider not to inform them. Let them decide if they like it or not. Because once you started telling them when you are not satisfied, chances are that you will continue to do that when you are not happy about the result. By doing that you can create the illusion that you are not so happy with your videos, so why should your potential viewers watch it? Your viewers are wise enough to decided whether they like it or not.

I will upload it anyway, but it's up to you if you inform your viewers or not!

Yeah that makes sense, I'll do that. Thanks this has been really helpful!

I've had a couple of videos which I didn't think it was as good as the last one and yet my viewers seem to enjoy them just the same (if not more!) :)

If I do not like a video I will not put it up. In my opinion the videos you put on your channel should be the best that you can do. Putting something mediocre on there, especially if one where to already have content, is sure to be noticed by viewers.

Go ahead and upload it. Both Jenna Marbles and Pewdiepie with other youtubers do it all the time, they just make a short explanation in the beginning of the video with another mention in the description and they go on with their video. The community is largely supportive and you should see it in the comments.

In Jenna's case it was her house plumbing? that frustrated her to the point of tears (house issues ugh been there) and in Pewdiepie's case it was his mic not working. Was kind of fun to see pewds sound like he was in a hall for a 19 minute vid.

I'd say go for it! Its par for the course to occasionally publish a video that isn't your absolute best. Make sure the next one is extra awesome. At least that's what I try to do!

Be careful that you aren't over analyzing a video. Sometimes we get these great ideas and write them down, then eventually work out a script, shoot and begin editing. That is a lot of time spent on one idea. If you hear an interesting story or joke over and over... it eventually loses it's charm.
