Tags experiment

Basically unless your video breaches several thousand views pretty early in its life, it's ****ed forever as far as YT is concerned.

Only hope for it at that point is if some other source causes a massive wave of traffic toward it, and then YT will look at it again and consider promoting it.

That's pretty much what small channels have whined about since as far back as I remember.

I was just playing around with my tags. I'm not very good with SEO. I know it in principle but not how to operate with in it properly. I have my first ever video that is still getting 100 - 200 views over a 48hr period consistently! And some others are only 10 to 30 or even less. I had a look at the tags on my 1st ever video and they are mostly single words. It really has me beat! However it really was a niche video. I guess not much competition where as some of these latest gaming videos have tons of competition. Like 75,000+ dedicated gaming channels lol.[DOUBLEPOST=1441111989,1441111023][/DOUBLEPOST]
Big YouTubers can be lazy with SEO as they are already ranked high because of their size.
My theory for the small time players like myself and many on here is either ensure the video is very niche so you get longer viewing time or use longer tags so people that do find you will watch your video longer and enjoy it. I think then you build the subscribers up quicker and can jam the more generic videos that has high competition down their throat. Unless you have a viral video related to your channel then you are not going to get the subscribers quick. Its a long game not a short one.

Have you checked where are those views coming from?
If your video is a week old at least then those tags have almost no effect whatsoever on the views. You are getting views due to other ranking factors or social media factors.
