Maybe your video was shared by someone, alot of factors are considered so its as broad as it gets.
My theory for the small time players like myself and many on here is either ensure the video is very niche so you get longer viewing time or use longer tags so people that do find you will watch your video longer and enjoy it. I think then you build the subscribers up quicker and can jam the more generic videos that has high competition down their throat. Unless you have a viral video related to your channel then you are not going to get the subscribers quick. Its a long game not a short one.Big YouTubers can be lazy with SEO as they are already ranked high because of their size.

I have my first ever video that is still getting 100 - 200 views over a 48hr period consistently! And some others are only 10 to 30 or even less.
