Subscriber Envy

Ughhhh I'm so guilty of this. Sometimes I'll watch someone who has 100K + subscribers and think, "Why do you have so many subscribers and I don't? I make similar content to you." or "My videos are at least as good as these... why don't I get the views that they do?"

hahaha petty first world problem!

Do you do this?
I do this all the time... But what I do next is look at the about page or the video page and see when they started. If it is like 5 years ago I'm fine with it, if it is about at the same time I started then I am really envious! :D

I think everyone eventually feels this way one time or another in their channel career. You never know what connections, opportunities, or exposure other channels have had to create their numbers. Just remember it is not always because somebody else's content is better than yours it is just that they have reached their audience better than you currently have. Unless you are like me and it does not matter what you do and the only attention you will get is death threats. But hey attention is attention right?

There is no such thing as bad press...or something like that. lol

As far as your other assertion, yes...some of the Youtubers with mega amounts of views caught a bit of a break along the way...either they were mentioned by another prominent Youtuber or blew up on Reddit/social media or they are simply great marketers of their product and the viewing public responded. Those things usually can't happen without the most compelling content though. It's possible that truly great content can fly under the radar for awhile (sometimes you see videos that blow up months or even years after they are put up) but they do eventually rise to the top. But yes, I agree with you...it's not always because their content is better (just most of the time lol).

I totally do this too!! However I know my channel need much more improvements before I can compare myself with those big similar channel!

i was suuuuuuuper guilty of this back when my channel had around 30k subscribers. hell i still get jealous when i see people who i believe arent as funny as i consider myself to be yet have more subs and views lmao[DOUBLEPOST=1432619159,1432619085][/DOUBLEPOST]
I don't think we've ever done that. What that should tell you is that being successful on YouTube isn't as simple as making a video and uploading it to your channel. Making and uploading videos are a small part of what we do. Once you master the other areas, things will fall into place.

soooo freaking true O_O. i actually believe it has the least to do with the videos anhd more to do with the other areas

Not yet, but maybe in the future! :P
I'm sure everyone feels jealous a little bit, but I think that a healthy dose of jealousy is a great driving force! Keeps pushing you forward. :))

I have felt that jealousy before. But I learned something important "Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle". So instead of feeling down, I just work even harder on my channel :)

I actually did with your youtube channel. How did you grow your subs so fast???

All the time! I just think ''if I could just get people to look at my damn stuff there's a good chance they'd be into it''. It's frustrating :')

OMG you put so much work on your animated video!!!

I actually think like this a lot. But at the same time I'm aware that success is also a matter of time and my channel is still pretty young. (at leat that's how I explain myself being not successful xD )
