STOP Being Melodramatic... [Serious]

It's funny how most of the people who complain are the ones who haven't been able to title their videos properly or get any views for years, as if their success has been halted.

And many of those channels are gaming channels playing the same games every other gaming channel is playing and doing the exact same commentary. And then they complain they are not getting views and subscribers like their channel is different.

And tbh, tyler and o2l are hilarious and deserve their fame.

I mean...I guess you're entitled to your opinion. I'm not bagging on Tyler or anyone that enjoys his videos (I used to like them a lot at one time) but the majority of YouTubers that are actually making original and unique content aren't the ones that are considered in the top. I'm also not against the big YouTubers. Kingsley has over 2 million subscribers and he's still actually hilarious and his video aren't riddled with thinly veiled advertisements.

To the OP, I agree with your first two points but you jumped the shark a bit with the last point.

DeathtotheFlesh2 is a example of someone who's managed to get 3,000 subscribers and 8 million views by just doing boring music and movie reviews. He's someone who did something unique and different from every other channel on Youtube and managed to get noticed.

It's great to make unique content. However, the viewers decide who is the best of the best by watching and subscribing to channels. Is it someone's fault that his or her channel is not a top channel? It depends on that person's channel, niche, video quality, personality, networking, etc.

Kingsley is amazing :D

Half the threads are about how YouTube is dying, falling apart, ruined, how much it sucks, etc. Seriously, cut the crap. YouTube isn't going anywhere, but if you can't adapt to minor changes then YOU'RE the one that is going to give up and blame YouTube for your failure.

"Google Ruined YouTube": No it didn't, it made YouTube the the second largest search engine in the world behind Google itself. YouTube was bought by Google way before most of you even made videos. A billion unique visitors a month? 1/7th of the world population visits YouTube every month and you say it's ruined?

"This Change will Ruin YouTube": No it won't, it just means you have to adjust how you do a few things. Do you know what happens to businesses that don't adapt? They fail and blame everyone but themselves.

"YouTube doesn't care about small channels": Maybe it's because 99% of small channels really aren't doing anything different than everyone else and blame YouTube when no one watches their videos instead of the big channels that make unique, higher quality, and more interesting videos. If you were making unique, high quality, and very interesting videos, you wouldn't be a small channel - that I can guarantee. Be the 1%, I know you know how.

/Rant
Just being so dramatic -.- stupid when they act like that

I agree with your rant a lot. I don't see why these changes truly ruined some stuff. The game developers that want their content being shown are already giving permission and I'm sure youtube will fix that part.

I agree with Joe (OP) completely. I have just started on YouTube, and I will say that during the last month, this was pretty much my attitude:

"I think just made some awesome video about x! Why aren't people lining up at the door to subscribe to my channel and watch my videos and comment and share and like and adkfdgjas! This is ridiculous!"

I just recently kinda stopped worrying about that right now, and decided to focus on enjoying the ride. I've also tried to get the attention of bigger YouTuber's so maybe they'll give a shout-out to me, but now I realize that's just so selfish, annoying and honestly, pathetic. Besides, even when said bigger YouTuber gives a shout out, unless I produce amazing content, they won't want to subscribe and/or won't stick around and become a fan.

All of this to say I am going to focus on two things:

1) Producing amazing content consistently that engages with my audience and makes them feel like they my friends (because they are).

2) Helping others out as much as possible. This part is still a little fuzzy to me, but I'm considering helping people make channel trailers / channel art / give tips on video editing or something, just anything to help people out.
