Self advertising?

Who was it... Jesse cox? his advice is to advertise like shameless whores. Or at least, that's what I read about somewhere.

I just saw another one of those "successful spam comments" - it was the top comment on Marcus Butlers new video.

And then people commented on his video that they found it because of the "spam". And there was just 1 dislike.

But still, I'm not yet convinced to do the same. ;)

So I have normally been very hesitant to self promote. But I have done it on 2 different videos. They are completely relevant videos and I am (at least I think) very polite and not-so-spammy about it.
Surprisingly I have already gotten 4 new subscriptions :)

***** yourself everywhere. If I spend just a bit of time I can get up to 300 subscribers a day.

Just curious, how do you word your comments? I feel bad saying annoying things so I make them not spammy.
What about you? Just looking for tips. I still will rarely do this because it does seem annoying.

You should defintly do advertising, because even if your vidoes are amazing you need people to find them. Be active and post vidoes on forums and also try to advertise on other popular vidoes without spamming too much. I know that many people don't like the idea of self advertising on other vidoes, but it really helps you a lot to get those early subs.

This. When you are a small channel it's hard for people to find your video no matter how well you optimize them for the searches. You have to shameless put yourself out there, if Youtube is what you want to do.

You shouldn't feel bad by advertising your channel. Why did you join this forum? The top and most active members advertise their channels and videos here.

I am a well known member at a few forums and they enjoy my channel and blogs. I continue to advertise at those sites because it keeps fans updated.

Networking is a great way to advertise. You can start friendships and you can grow with your new friends.

Don't feel bad about advertising and networking. Now get your game on!
