Screen Capture Software

^^OBS. Doesn't cost a penny to try, and if you don't like the results, you can always buy something later. I doubt you wouldn't like it though, it does a pretty good job. Spend that money on a good editor if you don't have one already.

Fraps is one of the most popular for recording games, but can destroy FPS

You could try debut video capture from nch software there is a free version and the paid version is reasonably priced.

But to be honest I would spend the bit extra and buy either an avermedia LGP or avermedia extremecap u3 capture device, you will get much higher quality videos with no lag and no max recording time.

Fraps does not "destory" FPS, you just need to actually have a good PC to actually play and record games. If you dont then every single screen capture software will kill your FPS. I am going to guess you dont have a powerful PC, thats why you are using an external device to capture? But if you have a good PC then playing a game and recording is easy as pie.

Pretty wrong then mad dog, I build my own pc`s and my current rig uses an i7 4770k haswell cpu, fraps on a low power machine will kill fps, but even on a gaming pc will reduce fps as it is another needless resource drain, I have an external capture device because it`s higher quality and i`m not a cheapo

I can confirm this.

OSB, DXTory & NVidia Shadow Play if you have an NVidia Video card.

I saw a short guide with shadow play. But I didn't see any audio options like obs to lower overall in game audio for example in a scary game the voice of the player is louder than the game or game is louder than voice. Also I keep getting corrupted files with obs. So i'm not sure which one I should use.

Right now i'm using fraps(I have the harddrive space but can't record monitor or make separate audio tracks with it)

OBS seems to have trouble with very large files. I used to record 3-4 hours straight and I used to have them too, it may have to do with the file format than OBS itself. Now I keep it to less than an hour and everything seems to be good.

But you record your commentary on a seperate file so game audio has no effect since both game audio and commentary can be edited afterwards. Even then, you lower the volume on your PC anyways lol If you can't record commentary with the capture software you can just use Audacity.

I can support Audacity.
