Promoting Videos DOES Work

I Love YTtalk
I see a lot of posts from people asking how to promote videos.... It can be a slow process, but 1 single share that ends up working can be a huge factor. This video is not even very great in my opinion, but the Internet seems to like it. One successful share ended up causing multiple shares from a bunch of popular sites that seems to still be happening even a month and a half later. This does not always happen, but it paid off this time.

So the point of this post is even if you try to promote something and get 0 feedback, it's worth it to keep looking for sources and experimenting! All you need is 1 person with access to a bunch of people to like your content that you shared with them and they will spread the word for you.... You just need to know that they will like what you send them which is how I judge where I post my stuff.... I'd say I'm only confident in about 10% or less of my videos are guaranteed to be liked when I send it out and I hand pick what I share to make sure I don't bore possible leads. So this is motivation for those of you who have not had any luck trying to promote videos, keep on trying! If you're lucky the source will even sub to your channel which is what I'm hoping for one of these days!

I have posted multiple threads when I figure out new promotion strategies to share with everybody in here, so I will not type them up again here again. If you are interested, do some searching and you will find them. Happy hunting! Let me know if any of my strategies work for you BTW... It would be interesting to see somebody else use them for non-dog videos.

I don't know how you do it, but you really know how to promote/share/spam your content. I really envy that :). It's an awesome skill, to be able to pull that off.

A marketing degree + being stuck at a computer all day + dog videos helps... It's more of sharing than spamming in my opinion... The websites gain value by getting site traffic and I get the views associated, I basically just find sites that I know will like the videos if they actually click and watch..... That's the hard part is finding big enough sites that will actually reply back to your messages and view them. Trust me it's like finding life outside of Earth to find a share like the one that blew that video up, most "successful" shares I do don't generate anything close to that amount of views! I'm sure there is a site that would like to share meowing songs, but I have no idea where I would look! If I had your videos I would probably start somewhere that has a trolling feel to it or a WTF feel to it. Like I always say, just experiment, the worst that can happen is your message being ignored...

The other trick I have found is to not "spam" them by sending a million videos once I see them share one, I tend to give it a week or so before sending anything again or else I feel like it will annoy them.

Yea, finding the sources to share your stuff is hard. I've tried much places, I mean, I could think of more places with the kind of videos you have. Mine are troll-like but it's not really share-worthy enough. When I do that, it will get stuck and won't go anywhere. It's not superfunny or something, my videos are just weird :P

I tried weird places like 4chan :). What I have going for me is that people are able to find my videos. I think Youtube ranks my videos quite nicely. The last 2 weeks I have +1000 views a day and that's really something for a channel of 6 months old. I hope I don't jinx it and it stays that way.

Nice +1,000 for meow songs is impressive. I bet a lot comes from people sending it to friends like "hey listen to this amazing song", kind of like Rick Rolling.

What kind of places are you sharing to? Besides the Reddit/Facebook/Google+ sites, what sites can you just simply post a video to? I can easily find websites about any subject, but I wouldn't know how to get one of my videos on them. The answer is probably in your other posts you mentioned, so I'll look at those while you look at this. Teamwork!

No it's actually not. According to Analytics I get most views from the search.

People looking for songs like: Titanic, ACDC, Let it Go or OMI Cheerleader and sees my thumbnail. They'll be: wtf is this and clicks on it :D.

On second place comes Suggested videos. According to Analytics people don't share my video that much... :P Maybe too embarrassed to share. People will be like: wtf are you watching at.

haha I told my girlfriend "There's actually a YouTube channel that does nothing but meowing popular songs" and she's like "why would anybody watch that???" I was like "It's the Internet, you can find ANYTHING"

Lol! It is going to be pointless when people were doing this and nobody watches it. In my case, people actually listening to men meowing to songs is pointless :P[DOUBLEPOST=1435344621,1435344186][/DOUBLEPOST]

I would suggest 4chan. Maybe it will work for you :P. Just post it and see how it goes :P

My quick way is to look in my Facebook feed. I look at stuff that gets shared by people and pages I go to that is similar to my content. I then go either to their Facebook page or directly to their website and see if they have submit buttons or ways to contact them. I also check analytics for spikes in views to see who shared a video and go to their site or Facebook page (this is how I have found the foreign sites that I share with). I have gotten the most feedback from Facebook PMs, but other methods do work. My exact method most likely won't work for most people in here based on my content (cute/funny dog videos), but the thought process behind it can still work. The trick is finding a site that YOU KNOW will like your content enough to share and hopefully actually reads their messages. If you send half a** stuff or something that is not share worthy, they will likely ignore you in the future. As I said, I'd say about 10% of my videos are absolutely share worthy in my opinion, so that's the stuff I share that seems to work.
