PewDiePie Has Turned Off Comments FOREVER!

I can't believe Youtube hasn't come with a human moderator approach to the comments yet. Only really for the mega huge channels like pewdiepie he could assign a few people (and probably pay them) to moderate through all the comments. Could Youtube create an access to a person's channel but restrict it only to comments, no video editing etc.? Perhaps one day, we'll see.

Good for him. He was tired of the BS so he did something about it.

As for me, I'm sure if the comments ever got to that point I'd finally have enough of it as well and just turn them off. I'm sure people have unsubbed and they'll continue to unsub, but sometimes it's just something you've gotta do.

If I'm not wrong, some other big ytuber made it as well, and opened a subreddit for people to talk about his videos. I wonder if he will do the same

He may have turned comments off, but that won't stop his fanbase full of 7 year olds to search "Pewds hate" videos so they can defend their emperor.

I think it was about time tbh. His community was no longer being a true community. Given his size I don't blame him much, it sucks that it's what he has to resort to, communicating with people in the comments section is like 1 of the best parts of youtube. His original intention was to actually create a special group specifically for people allowed to comment via donations that he was going to give to charity it was like $1 but it was already a flawed idea. He posted on Tumblr about it: http://pewdie.tumblr.com/post/96184507995/an-idea-that-i-may-or-may-not-go-forward-with-but-i I'm not sure if he'll change his mind about that idea, but I hope he figures out a way to better manage his comments section, honestly if I was earning what he was, I'd probably hire a few people to scout the comments section. This is why I think Google needed to add more options instead of just the manager option because manager gets too many privileges, there needs to be like a moderator option which content creators can delegate.

Honestly I wouldn't want to be him, he's screwed either way sadly, leave comments on; he'll get hate. Turn them off; he'll get hate. Damned if you do, damned if you don't I say.

The thing is the comments section affects both the content creator and the viewers. If you go to a CCs comments to see what the community is saying and all you find is crap, it can be off putting and make it difficult to get involved.

He can easily hire two or three trustworthy people to block spammers. It's not that hard to do. As long as he trusts them with his account info then its a simple job.
That's the problem, it's gonna be hard for him to find people he can trust who also have the time to do that, I remember he trusted someone to release a video for him back in Feb, the guy ended up adding tags to the vids description, I assume he was assuming he was helping Pewds out lol >.> This is why I think Google need that moderator feature, or even better the ability for content creators to create titles of some sort with customised privileges.

I think that was TotalBiscuit, he deals with even more crap due to his critiques though.

Actually, maybe him turning off his comments might convince YouTube to create that moderator thing :O I can't imagine Google would be happy that 1 of their biggest earners and most subscribed to, is turning off 1 of the most used features.

I can't imagine what it is like to have a channel that enormous, so it's hard for me to judge him. I am not sure that his Reddit and Twitter ideas will help, though. The same Spammers will still be there. Anyway, I do think it is really sad for his true fans who want to show their love. If the big vloggers I follow turned off comments, I'd be seriously bummed out. (Of course, they are tiny compared to PewDiePie!)

The difference is with Reddit when you downvote something it actually works, at least to my knowledge of it lol I even remember him saying during an AMA or something that he prefered using Reddit and found it easier to communitcate with people on there. I imagine Twitter would be a different story though, communicating with people via Twitter is a pain.
