Pewdiepie 2013 earnings

Well, since that's from his company balance, the only bit he'll lose out of is tax from that, and he's been smart about it, because by registering as a company, he only pays 20-26% corporation tax, instead of the 45% he should pay now living in the UK :)
No surely he has to pay personal tax on salary the company pays him, corporation tax is only on net profit or cash flow, not on wages.

But he doesn't necessarily need to take a salary, he can just pay from the corporation account, since its only him anyway :)

I've watched him twice to see what was up. It's not something I'd watch for enjoyment then again I'm not his target audience. However, I'm tremendously happy for him. He makes a millions of people happy while stuffing his bank account. Win Win.

The article says he takes out a salary of $55000/year, so he pays private and employer taxes on that, but the rest is saved in the company for the future. At some point he'll have to pay taxes on that, but that's true for everyone.

Not necessarily, he still will only need to pay the Corporation Tax as long as it remains in the company, plus if he moved again to somewhere with no income tax eg. Dubai, he wouldn't need to worry about it :)

Fair play to him, he regularly uploads and has built up such a large following so it's quite inspiring and rewarding to see him succeed. I'm not a huge fan of him but I guess this just proves the potential of YouTube and social media.

I'd be interested to know how much the 1M-2M sub channels are making as there seems to be quite a few people passing those landmarks.

That's insane and extremely inspiring. I hope some day I could have 10% of that from a hobby lol

Personally I find it inspiring. I love that people on YouTube can take a concept (like gaming videos) and actually earn a living from it. Now not everyone can, but the fact that the possibility is there is tantalizing.
