PAY TO SUBSCRIBE?!?!?!?! um NO!!!!

I've better things to spend my money on. :|

And by this, do you have to pay to subscribe to really big channels only? Or or do you have to pay to subscribe to all channels big or small? :unsure:
 
Yeah. This would have to be for paid premium content. Charging just to subscribe would make subscribing pointless.

I do think however that giving the creators the option of having better funded content is nice. As long as creators keep in mind that some of their fan base doesn't have all the cash. 13-18 users consume a ton of content and have the least money.

I think only a few networks will be able to do this kind of content in the long run.

Oh and one more thing. Trust me, the premium content will still have ads, if not at first, eventually.

13-18 year old Americans hold a lot of buying power, via their parents. A whole heck of a lot of buying power. Who do you thing bought all those Harry Potter books? Who do you thing goes to all of those Vampire movies? Buys all those video games? Itunes? Who does most of those expensive product unboxing? I bet the brokest kid on here has better camera equipment than I do. DSLR, Rode shotgun mikes, the top of the line capture cards. They don't have the money themselves, but their parents buy them what many of them want. Now, I not agreeing to charge for videos all I'm saying is 13-18 year old have tremendous buying power.

Fair enough. 13-18 can use their parents, but I am not convinced that some of these possible models would work for them. The reoccurring cost is a hard thing for parents to swallow. If they did gift cards, like MMOs do, then they would have a better chance. Most parents that I have interacted with don't dig a monthly cost for anything.
 
I can't see this becoming all that big. I mean, it might seem tempting for some of the bigger channels to do it, but I'd imagine they'd lose too many views and/or subscribers if they did. I spend a good amount of time on YouTube to be sure but as much as I like my favorite channels, I wouldn't pay for their content. There is just way too much content on YouTube to actually warrant paying for a single subscription.
 
Its is not a good idea in my eyes but i guess big YouTubers will want this feature as they want to earn more money but money is corrupting youtube now so i guess its normal for YouTube as its becoming crap.
 
I've taken all the wrong that's been done by YT so far, but paying for a subscription is crossing the line...
I'm really hoping they don't follow through with this one. Greedy greedy people...
