PAY TO SUBSCRIBE?!?!?!?! um NO!!!!

All of you are turning this in to more than it needs to be...
As wreckless eating said It`s not going to affect everyday youtubers, they know not to touch strategies that are working...
It`s for specially made channels with specially made content, for example since Machinima Prime started it has made a loss of close to 5M (over-estimated their audience) so they`ll benefit hugely from this,
It`s also to entice e.g. Walt Disney to make some animation shorts and still get paid close to what they would bring into onto the tv...

Haha this is more screwed up than being chased by a grizzly bear with a raging hard on.... lol any one who does this will be frowned upon. I wont be watching anyone's content that wants payed subs. All there getting from me is a stick and if there lucky a bottle of lube to go f**k them selves.
ROFL. :roflmao2:

Chill, guys I'm sure Google isn't so dumb as to cause their own downfall, as others said this will be for bigger channels and it'll be OPTIONAL. Paying not to see ads sounds cool however.

I thought two things of this, at first I thought it was where creators could pay to have people subscribe to them, like YouTube selling subscribers, but when I read it again I realised it could be where the YouTubers choosing to do this would turn this on so anyone wishing to subscribe would have to pay to stay updated (profits to the partner/YouTube etc) or perhaps watch certain content, I think paying to receive paid subscriber content could work well as the die hard fans could pay to see premium content and everyone else would just see whatever they release freely, I think most people will only really have an issue with this is if they have to pay to receive any of their content.

I dont think I could ever opt into something like this if it was for every video released. If this is only to receive updates in your subscriptions feed from those you subscribe to then I am pretty sure everyone will be telling others to just bookmark their channel, it is free and even more in your face than subscribing anyway.

Maybe youtube is making its own version of netflix like video game highscool would be on and rwj's riley rewind when it comes out hmm we shall seee..... i fan also see veve doing this to be aloud to view ther music videos. Still annoying lol

I think everyone is more bothered at the fact that this could change even more in the future (Past big channels if enough success comes out of this program).

Aparantly they`re funding each project on this new program with 400k$ or something, so I`m sure they know what they`re doing....

It`s never going to come to that, people don`t seem to get that google are smart....

They`ve invested close to a billion dollars into networks over the last year and a half, and you think they`re just go to tell them to go away now.... no ad revenue is here to stay, this will only be for shows that cost alot to produce.

From what I was told, about 25 channels have been invited to participate in the subscription program. The overall goal is to test the viability of a subscription service so youtube can lure some 2nd and 3rd tier cable tv shows away from cable and onto youtube-just as Netflix has been doing.
