Less views than normal?

Interesting. It must be strange to see a sharp drop off like that that isn't mostly algorithm related. I've never experienced anything like that.

I checked - last year was similar but the previous not. Anyway - it is a tough niche (barbie makeup kit). Big channels often target it (including pewdiepie) so I guess that's why the things are a little bit rocky. But I am surprised that you do not see big reshuffling in spring - April, May - I thought it is a global event.
On the other hand we are getting traffic mainly from Japan - I guess the Japanese YT ecosystem is still too young and needs to adjust periodically.

Data for August 31 is incomplete. The issue is being investigated. I just saw this earlier while checking my stats. This could explain the views problem

I noticed that too. Of course, if the views came back up the next couple of days that would also indicate that it was a glitch (adsense views I mean, since they don't lag)
 
I have had very odd results myself. I get a lot of views with low comments and retention or very low views with a lot of comments and retention. Just does not add up to me.

You should compare the geographic source in analytics to see if that changes in times of low comments high views. For me, the times where I have low comments but high views is often due to a higher percentage of visitors from other countries than usual. Sometimes there is no recognisable reason though.
 
Yeah mostly what everyone has said school is starting back for kids. Also YT since it has unlinked from G+ has been a little strange but will be going back to normal.
 
Nope, nothing like that going on here, just passed 1000 views for this day which usually doesn't happen much at all (~500 is typical for me nowadays).
