Instagram Shout-Out

I was talking to this guy on Instagram with 1.4 million followers. He said he would put up an advertisement for my channel for an hour for $90. He estimates I will get between 2,000-9,000 subscribers... Is this a good idea? I know the guy won't scam me, but for my YouTube career, is this smart? I need help. $90 for the amount of active subscribers I would get is considerably cheaper than adwords... I don't know what to do.

Don't do this. No way in hell you would get that many active subscribers from doing this.

1.4 million instagram followers.

Let's do some basic maths. Lets take a conservative guess that 1 % of his instagram followers would actually see the add, because it was only up for one hour. 1 % of 1.4 million is 14.000 people.

That would be 14.000 people seeing your ad. Now, how many of those people would be likely to sub to a channel they had never heard of before? Even if we were optimistic and said 1 % that would be 140 subs for 90 dollars.

Sounds like a total scam to me.

Save your $90, for all the reasons stated above. Even if it's not a scam, it's simply not worth it.

If it sounds to good to be true it's just that... too good to be true. It is a sad thing that people pray on the weak minded. Weak, because they let their desire for more views and subscribers overshadow rational thinking.

In my personal opinion it seems pretty sketchy. Like the others mentioned try reaching out to other sources to see if they have had success with him using this method.
