Immune to dislikes?

Ive never had a dislike on my channel before but Ill probably get one soon :) Someone wasn't very nice to me on YTTalk about my channel but I don't really care. If you weigh up the likes with the dislikes it usually makes people feel better.

Am I immune to dislikes? Possibly. They put a smile on my face because it means someone felt strongly enough about my video to prompt a physical response. It is better than them doing nothing. Likes are the best, dislikes are second best, and doing nothing is the worst. Negative comments are also a chance to reply to them telling them to show their friends how terrible of a video I made.

My total lifetime likes/dislikes:
7,181 likes and 3,902 dislikes.

That's an interesting way to look at things Idec! As far as those high proportion of dislikes from that one video, I think the reasoning that most of the audience for that video is mostly younger fans who adore that character got upset and when enough people in that audience gets upset, you end up getting more dislikes than likes for that video, likewise, the people that hate that video may also like your video because they like seeing people make fun of a popular character.

Not saying that you did anything wrong, but congrats on having that video go viral! :D

Thanks. But besides my opinion, from what I've read, dislikes count as engagement and the YouTube algorithm counts total engagement together (likes, dislikes, shares, and comments) when placing it in the search results and suggested videos.

if someone doesn't dislike your video, it means enough people haven't watched it! when someone dislikes my videos, I think it's cool they took the time to watch, and get all emotional about it lol - if someone tells me I wasted their time, I'd gladly remind them of my no refund policy, and would be happy to help edumicate them into being a better consumer to not waste any further time! lol

when you work in pro entertainment long enough, you realize it's a troll fest ...one day you just get sick of it and say "Ahhhhhh Shut up" ( in bugs bunny voice ) and have fun doing your best. While it's important that the client likes your work, you have to do this for a living, so you have to know when to be happy with your own work to survive all the complaining you take for a living. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, people tend to forget that.

Ironically, right after I posted that, someone commented on one of my videos, so I did just that:

Them: This very stuipd
Me: Aww, surely only this video is. I'm sure not ALL my videos are stupid, right? Do your other friends think this is stupid as well? I bet they would like it.

we should be happy it's just dislike and words ....i have friends ....who were popular and on a music tour, getting stuff thrown at them on stage, from crowds that loved them no less! ...some people simply like being trolls - they think they are amusing, and they insult you because they think they can get some fame from it ...it's actually a compliment in their own twisted way.

Now, downvotes on Reddit is a completely different story. I'm so glad YouTube handles them like they do. But it is threads like this that make me wonder if people perhaps think dislikes affect your channel like downvotes do.
