I Swear, Calm Down The Intros

This is kind of related. Something I feel needs to be said is that if your intro outshines your content to the max, this hurts you. If your intro is getting me pumped up for something EPIC, and making me think this is about to be AWESOME, and then when it finishes it's you sitting in a room using a grainy webcam going "umm.... so hi... uhhh... I wanted to show you these cool jeans I bought... uhhh" That's worse than if you had no epic intro. If you had no intro I'd be giving you more of a fair shot and not have any expectations, but when I see the huge intro now my brain is ready to be epically entertained, this makes the let down that much worse.
Completely agree with you. I have seen so many videos which intros are epic and builds you up for excitement, just to find out the video is some boring bad quality video.

I have thought about making an intro for my videos but I'm not to sure about it. I've been trying to think of what music to use and other stuff but I think I've decided to not use an intro. I like getting straight to the point at the start of the video. Besides, they say the first 10 seconds of your video are meant to capture the viewers attention. And if that's wasted on a 20 -30 sec intro then you've probably lost a potential sub. So overall, I don't think there is any need for an intro to me.

Can't help but to agree now. I'm guilty of trialing an intro that went for around 10-15 seconds, now I've just cut it out and have a quick outro instead.

I'm not a fan of long intros. I think the longest I've seen was about 30 seconds. A few seconds = fine, but not half the length of the video content!

Intros do much more harm then good - Im referring to people who have a jingle which they place at the beginning of every video.
It puts me off of the video and I end up either forwarding through the into, or worse still, switch to a different video entirely. They get so annoying. A few seconds - OK. Any longer and you've lost me as a viewer.

I have an intro before every video, but my intro consists of me introducing the item I am about to review. I try to make it informative, so its not a 'jingle intro' etc, although I use the same backing music on each. It makes the intro informative, which keeps the viewer watching, and every video has a different intro.

An Outro, on the other hand, can be very handy to place links to follow on videos or to your channel etc - this makes it nice and easy for the viewer to follow on to a related video, an dthe easier you make it for them, the more likely they will click the link and watch another video in your channel, and hopefully go on to subscribe.
