How to Boost Youtube Comments - Successful Experiment

You are welcome Amy, hope this one works for all of us here :)

A lot of really good ideas, thank you for sharing your success!
[DOUBLEPOST=1369417535,1369415125][/DOUBLEPOST]The Relative retention is above average right from the beginning for a 20+ min video, but it's high at the end, because of thanking the Subscribers and Commenters in the Credits :)
And it's natural for our loyal fans, who see their name in the Credits to comment. I think we need to think on this lines, and come up with few more ideas to get more viewer engagement...

(This is my first 20+ min video, and the retention is lousy, I usually get 50% and above :( )

It's been 7 days now, and in total we got 758 Likes added and Comments.....
it's more than 35% of my life time Likes and Comments put together.... :)

I am adding new Video today, lets see whether we can maintain this momentum or not :)
Kindly let me know, if you have any ideas....

Great tips and information a lot of it wasn't just the general bore so well done. I really like the idea of putting faithfull fans in the credits i really interact with my fans but have not yet given anything but videos hopefully that will encourage them to stay, comment and like all my videos.

First of all: Thanks for your guide, I will try some points for my next videos. =)

But I have a question:

So, I have stopped posting a direct link to the Video on FB, and only post the Channel link, so that people actually visit the channel and from YT they watch the video.

Does it work for everyone? I'm a musician and I mostly do simple "Image-only"-videos with my music running in the background.
It's often self-composed, so no one ever listened to them.

So people might just go "Nah, not worth the trouble" and simply not visit the channel at all.
What would you do in this situation?

Thanks for the comment. This is what I feel.... yours is a big channel... this are just my observations, i might be wrong.

You already have close to 5k subscribers, out of which my experience says, 1500 will watch your videos in the first week itself, most of it coming in the first few days. The first ones to watch your vids are the Loyal fans of yours, and Obviously if you post your videos on FB, they will like it even before watching it on the embedded player.... and some might end up commenting. Which will leave your Youtube video page, with little viewer engagement. Say for instance your title, 'if I loose myself' has more than 6000 views with just 23 comments. Which I believe is too less, for the loyal fan base that you have.

What I do is, release my Videos on FB after a week or 10 days... Try this.
By this 10 days, most of my loyal followers, they visit the channel, like it, and comment it... once I see that the engagement has tapered down, I release on FB, and tell them, I would handle all the questions there on the related video page of Youtube (mine are how to) .. and it works...

You too can try the Delayed Release :) what say?

That sounds like a good solution :)
thank you!

That's cool! There's also a comment question of the day thing where you ask viewers stuff they can answer in the comments or something like that. It works sometimes but I've yet to try it. Anyways, congratulations :D

Yes, I told the subscribers, that I will give them a 1 hr one to 1 session on skype, who posts the most motivating comment for me... :) some of them are truly motivating... we need to keep working and keep moving forward. :)

Great experiment! :D Also I think it's true about Facebook, while there are more people that are active on there, many of them seem to just have made a comment then left and forgot about it.. Also, the idea of the incentives and putting the ball in their court is really cool, I might give this a try or so! :)
