How to Boost Youtube Comments - Successful Experiment

I am glad you liked it Henry :) All the best

I think the focus should be to bring people from facebook to Youtube, and not take Youtube to Facebook.... This way we loose the opportunity to build up an audience where it matters most, i.e. Our youtube Channel.
So even when we promote it on Facebook, we some how should drive the traffic directly to Youtube.

I can't even find a joke that I posted a week back on FB, it just gets buried, under thousands of irrelevant posts from friends and their friends...etc.... so to have a discussion on our Youtube Video on FB is a waste of time, I believe....

One word of caution though, don't be Overtly pushing them to visit youtube, do it in Subtle way.... or else we might be pushing few people away from us.

Great experiment! :D Also I think it's true about Facebook, while there are more people that are active on there, many of them seem to just have made a comment then left and forgot about it.. Also, the idea of the incentives and putting the ball in their court is really cool, I might give this a try or so! :)

This is true and very frustrating. And it happens not only on FB, but as well on YouTube.
Some of my subscribers didn't even know I uploaded new videos and were like "HUH? Never seen that, sorry.."

New videos doesn't seem to appear in subsciption boxes at all or they do, but are pushed away by other videos. Someone who has got a lot of subscriptions but isn't frequently active won't ever know if there is something new.

So how to reach them, if not through facebook, which might have a more frequent user activity?

Not tried but I think Twitter might be a better option.
Secondly try the Delayed release, first only put the Channel link and let them go to Youtube to view the Video, that way the Loyal fans will start a discussion, comment, and like it at YT.... then after a week or so you can release it on FB,...
Thirdly, for important discussions or queries, request them to ask it on YOutube at the relevant video, so that many will be benefitted. I saw that the subscribers, oblige and some go the extent of telling others to ask questions only on youtube.... it works for me... :)

all the best bro....

I don't know, but we should try having an Index in the descripition of Intro Video on the Channel or may be in the Description of the Channel, we should have the top 5 latest videos.... may that will help... what say?

:) One Video of mine has Crossed 100 Comments :) Gonna Celebrate ;)

Those who have used these pointers, kindly update, if it worked for you guys too ...

May 19th I posted this, and after almost a month and a week, here are the achievements of this experiment:

1) 3 of my videos after the experiment has crossed 100 comments, one of them has crossed 150 comments :)
2) This one month accounts for more than 50% of all comments, more than 50% of all Likes.
3) My older videos with 5000 views have hardly crossed 50 comments, and these Videos where I experimented have more than 100 Comments with only 1500 views.... Imagine the Audience Interaction rate....

If at all someone has tried this, kindly let me know, I would love to hear your success stories.

Friends in my last thread, I told you guys that I am going to try something new to increase the Comments on my youtube Channel. I did that, and the result is phenomenal. In the last one hour, I have received more than 45 comments... have a look at the pic that I have posted, I could not post a longer picture, there are more comments pouring in, as I post. Usually I get 10 on an average per day.

This is what I did differently and my observations:

1. Ask and it Shall be Given unto You :

I used to shy away from asking for Subscribers, for Comments and for likes. In this video, I told them, dudes, listen, it takes me 3-5 hours to make a video and edit it, render it, and then upload it on youtube for you guys... it will hardly take you guys 30 secs to like, subscribe and comment... If you liked the video, generously comment and like... The Videos in which I did not ask, still are lingering in at 16 comments for 3000 views, and this latest video, as I am typing, has 16 comments for 27 Views... isn't that exciting.

2. Next Video Schedule

Usually people ask me on FB, when I am going to upload my next video. As I am into the 'How to' domain, (i don't know whether you gamers can do it), I told them that, the day I get 100 Comments on this video, I will upload the next part of this How to video. :)
The idea was to put the Ball in their court, usually when you have 500 subs, there are 50-60 loyal fans, who want to see something more from us... and they put the ball in our court, 'When are you uploading a new Vid'. This time around I have put the ball in their court, the moment we have 100 comments, I will upload ;) the very next moment. Don't worry, your loyal friends, will certainly help you out in this. forget about the accindental and occasional viewer... your loyal fans will love to Oblige.

3. Incentive / Giveaway :

I designed a Giveaway to all, those who are active on my YT channel, and those who are commenting. This give away is for only those subscribers, who will comment on most of the 18 videos I have. After Subscribing and Commenting, kindly send me a mail with your YT ID, and I will send it to you immediately. This has really worked and people are commenting.

4. Expand the Horizon :

Thankfully I included all the videos in the Incentive part, and did not encourage them only to comment on the latest video but also to comment on all the Videos. This way, my other videos are also getting comments by my loyal freinds. So when you encourage them, encourage them to take action for all the Channel in entirety and not only for a particular video. Remember, our loyal followers will certainly help us out, and that too with a smile.

5. Where there is Belonging there is Commitment :

Make your Subscribers feel that they 'Belong here', make them feel that it's their Channel, and not only yours... I came up with an idea... :) I included all my loyal fans in the Credit list at the end... and posted on FB, that I have thanked all the people who have encouraged me with their generous comments... Imagine, our loyal friends feeling, when they see their Names in the Video Credits... I am sure this will increase their 'Belonging' and their Commitment to the Channel.

6. FB is the Enemy of Youtube Comments:

I realized one thing, that posting the Video link on FB, reduces the number of comments and engagement on Youtube. because people just give a thumbs up on FB and comment on FB, but not on youtube... For some stupid reason, I love the Youtube comments more than the FB comments. So, I have stopped posting a direct link to the Video on FB, and only post the Channel link, so that people actually visit the channel and from YT they watch the video. This has really increased the number of comments in my last 2 videos.

Secondly, I explained it on Facebook to my loyal followers, that, I will answer the questions only on Youtube and not on FB, because comments in FB are buried deep inside. And it's more appropriate to handle the questions where the Video is hosted then to a place where it is shared... and they have accepted this... So that has also resulted in Increased engagements at Youtube.

Forgive my English, it's kind of Indianized. Don't watch my Channel Videos... if you don't know Hindi, :) ... it doesnt make sense.

I hope and pray, you guys too get your success on youtube... I know the excitement of getting a good encouraging comment on your channel. :)

Hey thanks for the post, im having a little trouble getting a couple views here or there let alone comments an likes. Will have to try this. :D

Great advice dude, I used to wonder why people always asked for subs/likes on their videos lol but now that I'm in their boat I feel their pain. Thanks for posting this experiment.

Yeah asking for stuff from the audience, I've always wanted to try that. Though I'm not really too keen with the giveaways thing, I wish there was a risk-free way to send real items, plus I'm worried about promising to give money for first comment and then paypal glitching up.
