How do you soundproof your room?

Cover your surroindings totally. Tie a rops above your chair from the wall or so and have a circular hanger. Then in the circular hanger, hang a thick cloth. The thick cloth should cover you, your monitor, pc and stuff important. The sound will stay in that vaccumm space :)

I've heard egg cartons can be used for soundproofing maybe. Also depending on the situation involved (ie probably only useful for VOs) recording sound in a closet is good to kill echo as the clothes absorb the sound.
IDK try it maybe worth a shot

Funny story lol..my room is not soundproofed unfortunately. The other night I recorded a song, and our room is incredibly hot, so there's no choice but to have the window open. I got a neighbour (a grown man) screaming really loud in the background of the track. The next day, I heard from a friend that there was actually a huge fight, because the screaming man's wife was caught in bed with another man, and a fist fight ensued :/ The cops were called and everything. I didn't remember hearing any sirens (as I was wearing headphones) I went back to listen to the track again...sure enough, there are sirens in the background.

To do that you should build a microphone isolation box. Quick Google search will show you plenty of tutorials :)

I have seen those but they won't work for my application. I will have a filming area (table top) and I will need to capture sounds from the set but not from outside. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

You would think that you would isolate the whole area or room in that case. I could be wrong though but if isolating the mic to a specific area would work to only include sounds from that area you I would expect it to work on a larger scale.[DOUBLEPOST=1405721967][/DOUBLEPOST]Im pretty sure @Pentra has sound proofing.
