Searching for the video IDs of his most famous videos didn't bring up sources that look like it was shared virally.

But it didn't get there from nothing. If it were organic views you would have much less peaks in the graph and more meaningful backlinks.

Social blade can be inaccurate. For example, when I input my username for the first time, they gather all my info up until that date and assumed it was all from 1 day.
Also, if it was bot, youtube should detect it before putting up on their popular official channel. Also, if it was bot, he could have done it to all of his videos consistently, not just couple of them. And his channel wasn't a partner. I don't see ads.

But they have very long time statistics for this channel.
I doubt that they check it manually. It's created purely by algorithms that can't detect all bots.
Probably it's too expensive, probably he is just testing view providers. Who knows ...
