How accessible are your videos?

Analytics>Views, then click on the subtitles and CC box, and then the language in blue.

Manually. It took SOOO long and they were short videos. (~5 minutes each) I purposely picked more popular ones though. Two of my tutorial videos that were already getting decent views (for me).

Looking over my videos, apparently I only did it to one of my videos, and not the two I was originally thinking of. So those 400 extra views were on ONE video, not two--sorry! I also apparently did it last year, not a few months ago, aaahh, wonderful lapses in memory, haha.

Great to hear you saw good results from this. What percentage approximately does that 400 represent compared to your overall views during that time period?

Thanks! I'm assuming I did this right (still a total n00b with the analytics, hahaa), but it looks like about 6%. I had to guess the range since I don't recall the exact date when I made the subtitles.

And in case you're curious: comparing my entire channel's views with just the CC views is just under 1%. (.0095)

Just a bit of an update now that a few days have gone by since I posted this, here is a screenshot of just my subtitles/CC views.

On some of my channels the automatic subtitles are terrible. On others they are fine.

It all depends on who is talking. I use them on my videos but since I mumble and spit a lot it never works well for my personal dialogue. When somebody else talks it picks up fine though.

I wanted to have my manually written subtitles be the only ones used, so I unpublished the automatic ones, however that got rid of that cute little "CC" label next to my videos in my manager. When I go to those videos, the option for subtitles is still there, but I don't know if removing the automatic ones changed anything more than getting rid of the label. Will that affect my search results at all? :c

So yea, you want to get the CC option back. A good way to do it is if you have music starting or stopping, at the point it starts in your video put [Background Music Starts] or [Funky Music Starts Playing]
You're telling your viewers what else is happening that they wouldn't know just by reading the subtitles, and it would give you your CC icon back
