How accessible are your videos?

You're telling your viewers what else is happening that they wouldn't know just by reading the subtitles, and it would give you your CC icon back :)

I don't have any music though, and I'm unclear as to how that'd get the CC icon back? I have subtitles on the videos, they're just not the ones made by YouTube, they're my manually made ones. I don't understand why removing YouTube's junky auto-subtitles removed my CC icon.

Do I have to readd YouTube's subtitles to get it back? I feel like that'd be really stupid though :/ I'm not sure why it would remove the icon if subtitles were still available.

Yea that's weird. Because CC doesn't happen automatically, it's something you have to add in manually. Any action to add in brackets will add the CC back. So for example at the beginning of the video put like [Subtitle Supported] and you'll get the CC back.

Well, it wasn't automatically on my video, I did have to set it to that, I meant YouTube's own version of subtitles vs my manually typed correct ones. I can't edit my transcription unless I add a new one, and preferably I don't put up YouTube's version unless I absolutely have to :/ Would this mean I have to edit YouTube's version with those brackets? Would it let me just have those brackets the whole video so people know to switch over to my version then?

This seems way more complicated than it should be x'D I don't get why YouTube doesn't just show the CC icon when there /are/ captions available on the video. >3<

Edit: I get this message when I go to publish the YouTube one: "Publishing these subtitles will overwrite the existing subtitles for English." Not exactly what I want ://

You can edit the subtitles you've added manually put up you just have to unpublish them first. Then once you've done your edit, for example putting in the brackets , save your edit and hit "publish" again then it will show as closed captioned. :)

You have the manual version saved on your pc? If not or if you do, do this anyways: go to the video and click on the version you made and download the .srt file and then just delete that from youtube. The .srt file would already have everything timed according to what you did so its easier for you to just plug it in later.

So then click on the automatic subtitles and unpublish that. Upload the earlier .srt file to the automatic one, dont worry about the warning, you want the new one anyways. Once its uploaded, you should get the CC back. I did something similar to you but I just click ok when the warning popped up lol.

Ya gotta take that chance bruuh~ haha
