Hide Sub Count??

I initialy thought about hiding my subs, then one day I watched a youtibe video and I was about to subscribe and noticed they hid their sub count and as a first impression right away I felt maaaaybe I shouldn't subscribe it felt like they were hiding stuff about their channel.
