True, but I couldn't seem to message anyone when I opened it?? Or is this someone else's turn to explain something ^u^ I'd love to learn! I miss using that thing :3

When that comes up, you can click the "Email" sub-tab.
Type the email address and your personal message and click send.
If that doesn't work for you, you use the first tab that came up ("Share this video") and copy the link into an email message. If the video is from a playlist, it will automatically set to share the video IN the playlist. If you just want that one video, you can uncheck the box that says "share with playlist starting from..."
To make it even easier, you can just copy the url from your address bad and paste it into an email.

As far as sending videos WITHIN YouTube is concerned, that feature seems to be phasing out, but that isn't the fault of Google+! If Google is trying to phase out the YouTube inbox, it is because it's so underused. Most people don't bother to check it, and most youtubers rely more heavily on outside communication like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+.

Fair point, but the "share" tab doesn't work anymore!
 
I never linked my YouTube channel to Google+

I can't comment but I'm glad that I can still be just a YouTube channel and not a Google+ profile\page.
They probably do something about this sometime, or hopefully they make Google+ just an option and not something that's required.

Huh... then I don't know! Do you have any add-ons that affect YouTube? I'm very unsure what else could be causing it. :/ That sucks, and I'm sorry it doesn't work for you.

IF all else fails, you can copy the url from your address bar. To be honest, I use that option far more often than the share button anyway O_O

Though I do have to say, there IS one thing I miss... I don't think it was removed because of g+, but I do miss the old video response option! Now you just get your video title linked. I miss when you could get a full thumbnail in a playlist. O well! We're still moving forward, and who knows what new options lie ahead of us :3
