I've spent a good amount of money just messing around early on. Nothing wrong with getting your feet wet. Did you use strongly worded annotations and/or cards to direct viewers to other videos? How many 'earned views' did you get (if you can find that metric. An earned view is when someone clicks your ad to watch your video and then watches another of your videos).I'm doing this for the purpose of seeing how it works, and if it's actually effective in any way.
So I got it started yesterday, so I'll post stats here! The video I'm advertising is really not that engaging at all, and I don't suspect many people to actually click. (It's the one in my signature)

Aug 06 stats -
Impressions: 11,522
Views: 180
View rate: 1.56%
Avg.CPV: 0.17
Total cost: 30.78
Clicks: 0 (I honestly would never click an ad and I've used adblock for 4 years)
Video played to <25%: 16%
Video played to 25%: 34%
Video played to 50%: 24%
Video played to 75%: 17%
Video played to 100: 9%
$30 for 180 views seems way too expensive. I think it isn't worth it at that rate, try lowering the CPV.

17 cents/view is pretty high, but you'll learn to lower that if you want to. I'd only pay that much if the views/subs ratio were really nice or the videos were achieving a much higher retention than if you broadened your keyword selection. Were you able to get any subs from the advertising?
Did they change that since last week? They might have, since I know they changed a couple things about the interface."Earned view" is now just named "click" instead, and I got 0 of those.

As far as how much you spent, I was under the same impression based on how you wrote it ($30). I think it's just the way you wrote it that threw us. .17 without a 'cents' or whatever afterward typically indicated 17 cents. 30.00 typically indicates $30.00. It was just a misunderstanding.

I have the attentions span of a flea. I can't remember what you just wrote just now much less earlier in the thread lol. The mind doesn't work the way it used to. That, and the fact that half the time it's 4am or later when I'm on here doesn't help either.and I've stated earlier in this post that I don't live in the US
