FPS dies when recording

Alright, let it be noted that I THINK I am in the right place. I could be wrong, though.

So, recent (week or two ago) I restored my computer. So far games have gotten 5+ FPS boost (which is big for me)
...However...
When I went to record Uplink, something strange happened:
My FPS died.
Literally.
From 60 to 4.
I used to be able to record with an FPS drop of 60 to 20, but now it's 60 to 4.
I tried different resolutions, different saving locations, different recorder settings, but nothing seems to work.

Am I doing something wrong?
 
Do you have anti aliasing on in the game settings ? that can cause problems.

Update your graphics card driver too ?
 
Graphics drivers are up to date.
There's no anti-aliasing setting in the game.

Perhaps its a setting in your recording software then ? I used to use Fraps back in the day and there was a setting on it that killed my recording FPS. I cant remember it off the top of my head though :(

Does the recording software have a support forum you could check out ?

I'm not sure what could be causing any problems with my current settings.
Only thing different than when I restored my computer is the shortcut key.
I've tried different recording modes, but I can't go Windowed with Uplink because the game goes all wonky with it's button placement (Removing them, cutting them, etc. etc.)

Uplink isnt very graphic intense right ? Recording in 720p probably isnt required. Try recording in 720 and then a lower version and watch both playbacks once rendered to see if you can notice a difference.

Theres no need to have your frame rate set to 30.....if you could only record at 20 fps before your just putting more pressure on your hardware for no reason, try knocking this down.

I have no idea what quality 80 means but try knocking that down.

Try changing the recording mode too.

Only change one thing at a time do your able to tell what one actually fixes the problem and then keep the rest high. If changing only one thing at a time doesnt work then try turning everything down to base settings and slowly workign your way up to where your getting decent quality and decent FPS.
 
Usually it's because your graphics card can't manage the recording software and the game at the same time. I get about 120fps most games, so it'll drop to 90 when recording. It really depends on the card

Uplink does not have any requirements [on steam].
Will knock down to 20 fps.

Have tried the recording mode to no avail.
Will try knocking quality down as well.

Indeed it does, however, I used to be able to record 20fps in Uplink.

---Side Note---
Haven't checked BIOS since my restore, but think it could be my RAM allocation to my integrated graphics?
Not sure what the restore set it to, but I know it used to be max (1.5 GB I think.)
