Does video quality have anything to do with lower views?

I've always felt that because I don't have a professional camera, it makes people not really want to watch the video. But then I feel like thats what makes my videos authentic to me. They're home videos (covers) lol, made right in my bedroom. I feel people would appreciate the realness rather than watching a dolled up version of me. Do I sound stupid? lol

In my opinion…I guess its time to save money for a new camera!
 
Not at all! You have 7,000 subs... and for good reason! I really enjoyed your videos! I use a great quality PC for my gameplays, but people still watch them considering I've gotten 300 subs in about 2 months! So, quality does matter, but content does more. If you want your videos to be the best they can be though, I would definitely invest in a better camera! But you're already doing great.
 
You're videos are awesome, and they're actually good quality! I don't think quality plays a MAJOR part in views and subs, but it can improve the amount of viewers quite vastly...
So, maybe tell your subscribers that once you get to a certain goal, you'll get a better camera or something!

Either way, nice job! :D
 
I kind of disagree with the above. Seems like youtube is beginning to replace television and HD quality is becoming more and more of a must.
 
With 7K subs I doubt that it's a problem. People will watch you for you and only you not about how good your camera is or how tidy your room is, they are subscribed for you and a camera shouldn't make a difference.

A good camera and mic is a bonus but not needed, your fans will love you and watch your regardless of a good camera or not.
 
Everyone who says it doesn't matter may be right, all I know is when I had a crappier camera the most frequent criticism I received was "Get a better camera!!!" It got so annoying I finally did lol

My two most watched videos are some of the shittiest quality ones I have on my channel. They were shot about 6 years ago on really s****y cameras and have over 500k combined views. It's just because they are videos of something cool. Content is usually number one, but quality does help. Watch my first ever video if you want to see how s****y I'm talking about, it looks like something shot in the 30s with added color. My most viewed video is like my 8th ever video I think, it's also on a pretty s****y camera.

I also get more views on some of my iPhone videos than my GoPro videos just because of what's in the video. Don't get me wrong, there are some videos where the quality just makes it that much more epic and is amazing. Here's are two clips that wouldn't be quite as awesome with low quality because the scenery is beautiful:
 
I will be honest that sometimes I click off videos if they've bad quality, but it's like 144p. Or if it's very laggy. Lag drives me crazy. That's just me though.

Your video quality is fine though. It's nothing to worry about. I would assume that in a year or two 360p won't be though, as for example the iPhone can shoot HD (not sure if it's full HD yet, but iPhone 4 does 720p so in a few years if it's not already the iPhone could be doing full HD). People will just be expecting better quality and will have a lower tolerance for low quality footage, I'd imagine.

I think it's like.. a comparative thing. I don't think people are trying to be snobs about it or anything, but more and more videos from even small channels are high quality HD so you get used to clarity and good sound, it makes it stick out like a sore thumb when you then see something low quality and kind of tricks your brain into thinking what you're watching isn't very good.
