Do you have / need a Team?

I would LOVE to have a production "team". I really just need like 2 more people, someone to film and someone to do sound so I can focus on working on cars and not have to stop every ~15 minutes to set up different shots, touch the camera with my greasy hands, and basically direct everything myself. I could also go for an editor, the process of editing frequently frustrates me, but I'm a bit of a spaz in terms of how I want the video to end up so that might be hard to communicate...

That said, I can't imagine hiring anyone to do that kind of stuff before 100-200k subs. That would be such a huge overhead, and the videos I make are already pretty expensive even with me doing everything myself. At least I have 1 friend who helps me actually do some of the work on the cars themselves, the channel wouldn't be able to exist without that, but he's not interested in filmmaking or editing so the bulk of the "actually making a video" part is solely on me most of the time. It's definitely not easy.

But yea, I can't imagine hiring a manager. I'm too controlling about what I want my channel to be, I wouldn't be able to defer to someone who thinks they know better...

There's nothing wrong with having a "team", especially if they're there to maximise the productivity in the short time they have the YouTube Space, but I would find it a bit diva-ish if the people who came along didn't really have a proper job role.
As for finding a manager, I don't really know of the official channels or how other people find their team, but I'd probably look for a Business graduate with experience in social media / marketing. I suppose it really depends what you envision them doing. You could try asking a local University with a Business program to spread a message to their students that you're looking to hire and see what submissions are returned, alternatively you could try somewhere like LinkedIn.

Awesome suggestions, you make great posts kid, I like you ^_^

Wonderful Answer! Thanks a lot, seriously! My question to you is, if you were in need of a manager right now, how would you go about trying to find and hire one?
Haha thanks, I just know my stuff, doesn't seem to pay off as much as I'd like it to though haha

I everything myself (sometimes one of my daughters will help me with filming).

Recently while in Mexico City I did a colab with cooking channel that is a lot larger than mine. She has an entire team, even sales people. It was quite the revelation on what can be done. Prep, cleaning, filming, editing and social media is mostly done by others. This allows her to produce several videos per week. I struggle to get one done.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you can focus on good content, it will be "you". When you bring a team on drama can happen...diva attitudes....more money mo problems...

Only hire people if they do their stuff better or at least quicker than you can. There isn't much sense in e.g. hiring an editor if it doesn't help you to put out so much more videos that it covers his wages. You only need a manager if a lot of administrative work (like hiring editors, handling copyright issues, ...) hinders you from creating videos.
Unfortunately you can't have a good manager quickly for cheap. You either find one quickly for cheap who is bad, find one quickly who is good but expensive or search a long time for somebody who is good and cheap.

Interesting topic! Well I was always planning to build a team around my area and develop short independent films, tv dramas, animes or script writer! I never got that opportunity. Once we build the team, the audience grows rapidly because of the team members. I want to be the manager myself, it is good to control the situations whenever team members need to be trained.

Goodness gracious, I think I'd cry tears of joy if I ever got people to assign to all the different parts of production I currently handle on my own. Ha. Especially people to do inbetweens and backgrounds.

At my latest Comic-con I was lucky to have my wife help as a secondry camera-man lady.
I'm also starting to think my friends (equally as Looney as me & featuring in a good number of videos on my channel) KC, Captain Tourette's and Joker Robb as being part of the "Michael Lunatic Team" but with myself doing all the editing, promoting, branding and merchandising myself.
