Did you ever make a viral-potential video?

For us, it looks like the most viewed video is 5+ months old. There way be an initial surge, then it calms down, then starts to rise again. But depends on the topic, is it hot now, is it seasonal or cyclic?
Almost every video I've seen that either my friends got a lot of exposure on or that has helped past youtubers get big or bigger is something that takes a while to grow on. Say I release a video and it has viral potential or could then it initially get 50 views ish the first day and a few more the 2nd and a small amount the 3rd if any. After that its hope because even if you've studied and found a great topic in your niche its still luck to get it really noticed. I have chosen 2 videos within the week that could get a ton of publicity due to the fact that no one has been able to do it yet and its trending. (My batman vs deathstroke gta mod video) . Other youtubers that have some subs like 10-30k , they get their subscriber views which could range but, like one youtuber i've studied in particular had 20k because they had a bigger channel that they shouted themselves out on so it was a quick and fast 20k a subs. However that channel didn't continue to grow from that shoutout until he made some really nice explosive viral gaming videos with some over 5 mill views which all consist in the general area im taking my channel too now. Anyways... he had 20k subs and he gets a large initial amount of views compared to mine (5-10k right off) and then it has a much better chance to grow and become something more viral than mine does with 50 views right off. Big difference but hey, Im happy I have my 50 views :) . <3 subs.

Sorry if I rambled a bit.

I've never made a video with the hopes that it would go viral. I looked down the other day and found out that one of my older, crappier videos now has 16k views.... and I don't know what to do! I was going to delete it. LOL

Did you ever make that one favorite viral-potential video that you thought, "this is the schnick that's gonna blow big"? LOL. Why was it your favorite? What feature(s) did you like most about it? Did it go viral?
Every video has the potential to become viral but the one I think thats gonna go wild is the video about how i lost my finger so far it got over 24k views and over 700 likes and i hope that this video help others and inspire them

Everyone believes their videos are viral worthy content but it seems the audience disagree or you just dont have a big enough following to boost the chances from the start.

Some videos are bread and butter (according to a commenter above), while others have original content and extreme appeal. The extreme appeal has potential. The rest just falls behind.[DOUBLEPOST=1475555378,1475555222][/DOUBLEPOST]
Its the My Addiction video lol

Wow. It's an interesting and emotional piece. I was very surprised at the ending. Thanks for sharing![DOUBLEPOST=1475555449][/DOUBLEPOST]

Good question. Sometimes a video is seasonal. Water parks, amusement parks, travel videos seem to be more popular during the summer (or holiday seasons) as people do tend to travel and vacation more.

Well if any I would say my latest video where I try a century egg, which made me throw up. I mean I don't actively go out to make a viral video, I just make content I think is interesting on the topic of food. But I think out of all, that would be the one I guess.

I am afraid my channel is ahead of its times and I will have to wait 2 more years for any video to go viral (although one, 3-weeks old has already 27K). Seriously. It's based on 360 technology and each video requires viewer to engage with video. Not only it's a new concept for YT, but not all platforms support this technology (eg TV), plus not every one understands it. But as with all viral videos, you never know. Fingers crossed!!!!

I don't know about viral but around July of this year I started learning how to be a bit more effective with SEO, so I pretty much knew which of my videos were likely to rank in search and which weren't. I didn't see immediate results since the views trickled in slow initially, but now a few months later I can see that indeed a significant portion of my current views all come from my little experiment with SEO back in July.
