Did you ever make a viral-potential video?

Wouldn't say it was a viral video, but one of my recent videos hit 40k views (only had 80 subscribers at the time) Was an Overwatch video of some voice lines, that aren't currently in the game. I think I was the first person to make a video on it.

I consider my content as good (self-belief is great in everything), but I don't expect them to go viral. I have plans for content that I think would go viral, but I haven't done it yet, soon though ^_^

I've had a couple viral vids. Only one did I think "this is it."
I actually re-recorded the entire video from scratch because the first version wasn't good enough. The vid got a couple million views before it died. now it gets mediocre views.

Me eating deodorant and cigarettes should've gone viral. Still stuck under 2,000 views for my channel. Its about how much you promote I guess.

Lol. For sure eating deodorant should go viral! How did it taste? I'm gonna have to watch that. Haha[DOUBLEPOST=1475425534,1475425164][/DOUBLEPOST]
I think of it this way. Every shop sells milk, break, cheese, butter. Those things everyone buys every day. But sometimes there's a product that just flies off the shelf, like a new dessert, or a fancy pizza topping.

So for our channel, many, if not most, of the videos are bread and butter. Sometimes I plan videos with the express desire of them going viral. Squashing the dinosaur toy with the car was one such video. The giant Hello Kitty egg was another.

For something to go viral, from what I've seen, you need to build on an idea already there, but spin it in a unique way. Make it funny, entertaining, different.

As a good example, there were lots of videos with kids dressed as Spiderman and Elsa. Then someone thought, let's make Spiderman pregnant. and let's give Elsa a stomach ache. Those went mega viral.[DOUBLEPOST=1475335872,1475335838][/DOUBLEPOST]

Very nice analogy about the usual bread and butter products. Different one sells to different people and their needs. But to make your product go viral, you have to stand out somewhere from the rest. Thanks for your response.[DOUBLEPOST=1475425625][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm about to release one. I really hope it does well :)

LOL! What's it about?[DOUBLEPOST=1475425708][/DOUBLEPOST]
Ladybug for Netflix went semi-viral and I got load of views from that and I hope the rest of my video do the same.

Awesome! Best wishes!!
Will check it out when I get a chance! :-)[DOUBLEPOST=1475425859][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yes! Self belief and confidence help in many things. For sure it'll help us move forward in tough times. :-)
Best wishes on your wonderful viral potential ideas. :wavespin:[DOUBLEPOST=1475426397][/DOUBLEPOST]

That's fantastic! I like it. When voices change, it takes away from the monotony of a video. Yours look great. Lots of action!
Being the original first person to start something is definitely important. Execution of the video is also important. You did a good job. :wavespin:[DOUBLEPOST=1475427110][/DOUBLEPOST]
On my secondary channel where I upload short videos, yes lol

Wonderful! Best wishes!![DOUBLEPOST=1475427196][/DOUBLEPOST]
I haven't yet made one but currently in the process of making some that could get a ton of hits. Right now I'm studying other channels on what made them blow up and what they did to get there and focusing on similar topics as them.

Great! Hope you make one!

This topic is most like the one I was going to create so. How long does it take for a video to take off and go "viral" if it's going too. Instantly or could it take a year? I've seen a lot of videos that channels got exposure from get tons of views like 1 year ish after they post the video.

its always the ones you least expect that do well.

  • small short, snappy and to the point, most people can get the jokes - meh got average views
  • part 2 of a series thats '1st part' is over a year old based on a specific even that happened 2+ years ago that isn't talked about at all or is popular anymore, with VERY specific jokes in? - best video on channel at the time.
  • Simple short based on new game mechanics everyone was talking about at the time, short and too the point - meh again
  • decide to do a new video on something totally unrelated to what I usually do (posted on here worrying about the backlash i was fearing, and people unsubbing) - best performing video ever on my channel. helped me hit 100k :O
...

...viral videos are like summer rains, you can never predict them. (these vids aren't viral, just what i consider pretty great for my own channel)

For us, it looks like the most viewed video is 5+ months old. There way be an initial surge, then it calms down, then starts to rise again. But depends on the topic, is it hot now, is it seasonal or cyclic?
