Collabs... it's the way to go.

So I've noticed a lot of YouTubers I watch have started to do a lot of collab videos. Maybe it's because of Vidcon recently happening, and a lot of people got time to record with each other, or maybe it's a new trend... whatever the reason, it's working for them.

If you look at JoeyGraceffa's channel, he's been doing a lot of collab videos. If you look at his popular videos tab, almost all of them are collabs. He reached 1M subscribers 2 months ago, and he's already almost to 1.8M subscribers. That's crazy! His views are also increasing, as now they are 200-300k+ each, and I rememember when they were 100-200k each.

Tyler Oakley is a good example of this as well. For every weekday in August, he is doing a collab video. If you look at his stats, he went from averaging 5-7k subscribers a day, to 12-27k subscribers a day. That's a HUGE increase! His views are also increasing as well!

I guess what I'm trying to say with this thread is collabs are a great way to grow your channel. When you collab with someone, viewers from the person you collabed with will most likely go check out your channel, and vise versa. Both channels grow, and benefit from the collab video. Sometimes I wish I lived in LA to be around more YouTubers (Of course I wouldn't be able to work with the big guys, but there is more YouTubers near LA then there is where I live lol). I'm also not a big fan of collabs that you aren't in person for, so I choose not to do those lol.

Ah ya does suck, i'm in a small town so nobody but one friend i help out does YouTube here. I could try to travel to Toronto to see of some more Canadian YouTubers but even that i still would have my problems.

So for me i don't mind doing an out of personal collab i've done one gaming collab (that well ya) but also have a non in person collab the mix. Which i'll say is going to have the challenge of making the illusion it isn't one.

But that's the best part about collaborations as well as helping others grow it can be done in so many ways.

Definitely need to do some more collaborations with other Youtubers, kinda hard though when I'm a shy Panda.

I only know of a few who do YouTube in the state of Oregon lol. I've never met any of them though. It also seems that a lot of my friends aren't really into the whole YouTube thing. I've never really seen anyone on Facebook talk about a YouTuber, or share a video or anything like that. Like a week or two ago someone i'm friends with on Facebook just discovered JennaMarbles.... LOL.

Yeah, gaming collabs work great if they're not in person, but like vlogging collabs or whatever not in person are a bit trickier. I'm personally not a fan of them, I've only done a couple.[DOUBLEPOST=1376897123,1376897048][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm shy too, don't worry lol. I've only done in person collabs with my girlfriend, if that counts LOL. I would like to do more collabs, but 1) I don't know anyone personally that does YouTube (I know people who live in the same state, but never met them in person), and 2) I'm super shy, and I feel like I would be really awkward lol.

For months I have been wanting to collab. I mug rather prefer doing an in person collab though. I am doing a over the internet collab with Brent Blogs soon. I'd really want to do an in person one though. Except the only people I know of that I could get in contact with, because of YTTalk is wreckless eating. I don't want to eat nasty stuff, just watching other people do it is fine :p

If we are ever at the same place at the same time, we're doing a collab :P

LOL I say it does count because I just got done recording a video my girlfriend as well :)

I feel like I would be that awkward Panda in the room, I feel like you should get to know the person for awhile, talk with them, play some games with them ( would help in my case sorta). That's why I don't post in the collab section at all, I've even had some people messaging me asking to collab when I don't even know them, I'm like uh....*runs away*!

Yes! That's why you and Rodney have to come to Vidcon, next year! We can make a giant collab, Haha.

I seriously want to! If I can afford it, i'm going :P Would be so cool to be surrounded by a bunch of YouTubers.[DOUBLEPOST=1376898435,1376898182][/DOUBLEPOST]

I get messages all the time of people asking if I want to collab with them. Majority of them I have never even seen their name before, and most have like less than 100 subscribers. I'm just like "Do you want to collab because you like my content, or are you using me for my subscriber count....?" lol. Like, I wouldn't have a problem doing a collab with someone that i'm friends with, no matter their sub count compared to mine. But when it's someone who I've never even talked to before.... no thanks lol.

But yes, I would also feel very awkward. I'm a very shy person, and I only really show my true self in front of people i'm comfortable with. Most of my life I never had very many friends (in person), so my social skills really slack. A lot of people are always like "You're so quiet... You're so not talkitive!" etc. & It's because I don't really have very much social skills.. I don't really know how to act in front of other people lol :/

Me and my friend done a collab where we wrote a Grand Theft Auto Song. I actually earned about 2 subs from it and according to my friend, we were complimented by Dan Bull. And Dan Bull is pretty huge in YouTube. Collabs works, plus it's fun. Lately, I've been trying to deal with online collabs. Has anyone done that before?
