Clarification on ad revenue splits please

Can anyone help clarify for me the difference between working directly with YouTube and Adsense vs. choosing a network. Do the networks work *outside* of adsense? In other words, if I'm agreeing with a network with an 80/20 split, is that 80% of ALL revenue, or 80% of the revenue I'm earning today with adsense (which already has a cut going to YouTube).

Secondarily, does anyone know the exact split we're giving YouTube with an Adsense parternship?

Thank you for your help on this guys!

With YouTube/AdSense you only get 50% of what you earn
With a partnership you get what they state (percentage) of what you earn

Most of the time partnerships are much better, I recommend Exposure Network, I'm partnered with them:) They are British, I also have a T-Shirt, they give 80%

Crazzy is not correct.
Google always gets 45% of your earnings.
If you are with Adsense, you get the remaining 55%.
If you are with a network, the network gets the remaining 55% and splits that 55% with you. (i.e. 80/20 split would be 80% of that 55%)

Thank you Phoenix. But if this is the case, why is there such debate about whether or not to join a network? If I'm getting another 80% of income I wouldn't be earning otherwise, why *wouldn't* I join a network? Sounds to me like I'm earning more just by joining. What's the catch? Or are all things not equal?

I think you misunderstood my post or I am misunderstanding you.

Google always gets 45%. If you are with Adsense, you get 55%.
If you are with a Network with 80/20 split, you get (.55 x .8) = 44%.
You will always get less percentage in a network.

You 're partner with Exposure Network? Me too :D Best network, if you stay with them for 3 months they will set up revshare to 90% . My revshare is now 90%.
Best support i like it <3

ah, I see. That makes more sense. It was explained to me quite differently by another network.

"you are receiving 68% of your earnings with very basic Ad-Sales which are available to eveybody. On behalf of Freedom, I would like to skip any negotiations for less rev-shares, and offer you an 80% rev-share directly from Google, with no additional cuts"

So what the heck is he talking about then?

What was the 68% in reference to? Freedom has no ad sales.
