Horny males and relative anonymity, it's not a problem that can be solved without removing the anonymity (which is not an option, that would be terrible). The negative twitch cleavage streamers cynically exploit the situation, and probably feel empowered doing so, but it just fuels the problem imo.
A certain amount of abuse in general is going to happen, and it's going to be targeted (sexist, racist, the classic "kill yourself", whatever they feel will have the most impact). I've only had minor abuse from videos that went viral (within my niche), I guess it got shared on reddit or elsewhere, from viewers that wouldn't normally have found the video.
Dodger is high profile, so is Minx. I don't see how a gender disparity of videogame content creators is a problem, it appears to match the difference in viewers/players of videogames (97% of my audience is male, my content is highlights of a gender-neutral game with no commentary). I don't feel there's a barrier to entry for female gaming channels.
