Horny males and relative anonymity, it's not a problem that can be solved without removing the anonymity (which is not an option, that would be terrible). The negative twitch cleavage streamers cynically exploit the situation, and probably feel empowered doing so, but it just fuels the problem imo.

A certain amount of abuse in general is going to happen, and it's going to be targeted (sexist, racist, the classic "kill yourself", whatever they feel will have the most impact). I've only had minor abuse from videos that went viral (within my niche), I guess it got shared on reddit or elsewhere, from viewers that wouldn't normally have found the video.

Dodger is high profile, so is Minx. I don't see how a gender disparity of videogame content creators is a problem, it appears to match the difference in viewers/players of videogames (97% of my audience is male, my content is highlights of a gender-neutral game with no commentary). I don't feel there's a barrier to entry for female gaming channels.

I used to play quite a few online multi-player online games. At first, I used a noticeably feminine username. I wouldn't say people treated me badly, but they didn't really take me seriously. The day I decided to pick a gender-neutral username and hide my gender, literally everything changed. People were waaaaay more willing to let me help, gave me a lot more responsibilities, and I had soooo more fun playing. ^^

I've never played games for YouTube, but if the mindset of gamers is anything like what I experienced just by changing my username (and it's probably magnified with the addition of facecams), then I can imagine it's really hard for the lady-gamers out there. :(

I'm a girl gamer! I play tons of console games like Assassins Creed (my fav) and I kind of want to do let's play on my channel but not as the sole focus. I currently have an rpg horror lets play on my channel perfect for Halloween.
I want to crush the idea that girl gamers can't be taken seriously because that's stupid it's 2016 girl gamers are really and are half of the gaming community anyway. It's just marketers tend to ignore that.
Let's crush the system!

Theres a reason girl gamers are judged differently. It's because of the amount of attention whores or the ones that flash their a** / titts for views. Zoie Burgher is a really good example of this. She honestly makes me sick. I don't think all girl gamers are like that however. Theres some pretty good girl gamers out there that are better at gaming than guys. It's just a stereotype thing sadly and normally stereotypes are pretty ridiculous.

My wife feels the same way!
It's hard for the women of video games to really be taken seriously. Just persevere and you will do great!
Currently, my wife and I are using all of our free time to start my channel, in the future when I have a stable channel. We are going to launch her channel. She's very excited to help bring girl gamers out of the closet, as where. I wish you all the luck in the world, Hopefully, next time Bio Ware wants to use a well known 'girl gamer voice' they will choose a YouTuber who really does play games!
Best of Luck to you! Can't wait to see more videos on your channel.

I looove playing video games, and have thought of trying to make gaming videos. My boyfriend usually suggests to me I should, especially since I live in Japan and there are a lot of game related ideas I could make videos about. I always thought it'd just be difficult to make them! And Expensive too, but I think girl gamers are awesome.

Unfortunately in the past number of months Girl Gamers havent been giving themselves a very positive name with all the clickbait sites I see on YouTube of these girls *accidentally* doing something naughty with their webcam *accidentally* on.

Ever since they started popping up I thought it was a shallow way to get viewers by doing those sorts of acts just for the attention or views.

Glad to see a REAL girl gamer trying to change the way we see Girl Gamers now, not as objects who will do anything upon donation but a player with passion for the game their playing. Subbed and looking forward to your videos in the future, you have my full support Sabrina!!!

I'm a girl gamer and I have to say I'm grateful not to have experienced any of this...yet. However, it also may be due to the fact that I have a low voice so people mistake me for a guy. I enjoy horror games myself (which is a bit of a shock. I didn't really start playing horror games until I started doing YouTube). I haven't checked out your channel yet, but I just wanted to raise my hand and say "Girl Power!"

See ya later!

Random but you live in Japan? JEALOUS T_T lol , Japan / Australia / Canada are my top 3 places to live later on. Also, are you filipino? or uh what nationality haha because you sound like it.

On another note, like everyone here said, it's the few that ruin it for the rest.
