I Love YTtalk
Youtubers who are too small to ever see a paycheck are also too small to significantly influence the price of adverts.
If it were just one or two channels, you'd be right- but when that number is in the millions, it's a whole different story.
If you do as @Shakycow says you will potentially be throwing away hunderds of dollars. For instance, I am not at the level shakycow suggested, and won't be soon, yet I have already received two paychecks.
Your channel has also been around for 10 years...far longer than most are willing to wait for $200 and, with CMP having dropped over the past few years, I'd wager it'd now take far longer to earn that much again.
There is also the argument of how many views have you lost over the years from people clicking away after seeing an ad? ...and, if any have, how much higher up in the rankings would you otherwise be and how many more possible views could you now be getting?
As I said, I understand my view isn't the popular one- but then I also feel that anyone who is serious about YouTube wouldn't be happy with a couple hundred dollars for 10 years of work. At that level I'd also rather more people worldwide watching my work and growing a channel than risk possibly alienating them.
