Being embarrassed

I used to be. Sometimes friends still take the mick, but when they realise I earn money from the monetised videos they soon shut up and start gtting all interested! lol

My experience has been the opposite. No one makes fun of me because of it or anything. I feel that I've actually gained people's respect now that I've put myself out there. People used to call me names at school sometimes, but then I began making videos and they only found out months later, any kind of teasing like that stopped. I also made a video about this guy who'd been my biggest bully so I guess people don't really wanna be my next subject to talk about? Haha.

But honestly, what's great about videos is that soon enough you will start getting your first viewers. The more you get, the more people shut up.
You'll see quite soon that a regular person doesn't really understand how Youtube works that much. We as the youtubers say that 100 subscribers or so is nothing, that's small, but non-youtubers actually think it's quite something, in my experience at least. My classmates think 100 subs is pretty cool :giggle:[DOUBLEPOST=1370606086,1370605815][/DOUBLEPOST]I also wanted to add that it's just an enjoyable experience no matter what anyone says. And those "anyones" will stop saying stuff once you start getting fans etc. You also stop caring when you see people like your stuff.

I actually released my first video to my close friends and family (via Facebook). For the most part they were very encouraging and supportive over it. I had one close friend troll me about it and I will admit I did not react with a level head (I got really mad and defensive).

Now though, my friends probably make up only a few of my views and my audience has changed to people on here and on the internets.

Thanks guys. All your responses make me feel more confident. I'm looking forward for my first video. :)

My experience was that it was awkward and a bit hard to push through the apprehension, but over time as I did it, and "practiced" it got a whole lot easier. While you're on #1 - by the time you're on 4-5, you'll be on your way to being a pro!

It's something I'm a little wary of doing. It's fine with my friends, but I don't think my parents would even understand what the point is, so there's no need to even tell them haha

Don't really care. Unless I go viral and end up on tv conducting interviews on 20/20 I doubt anyone I know will find out unless I tell them. YouTube is such a big place and most of my gamer friends would rather play games than watch gamer videos. It will be extremely off chance that someone will watch a review of Man of Steel and say hey isn't that same Mark Rodriquez the guy that sits across me at lunch break?

A little but where I'm not in my videos it wasn't too bad. Although when a boy in my class played my video to everyone, one which included my voice I was really embarrassed.
