Audio Interface

I will say Focusrite interfaces (be it the Solo or the 2i2) seem to have REALLY good internal parts. I've used much pricier amps and DACs (Schiit Lyr with a V-DAC) and while it's not quite on that level, considering you're talking $100 versus like $700 and you can record? No brainer.

I've been considering the 2i2 for a while as my Behringer mixer left channel output to the speakers crapped out on me. I went with the mixer because I wanted a hard mute. Does the Focusrite actually have zero output with the volume knob turned all the way down? I've found that some interfaces still output some volume even at zero. I know I could just get a volume mute footswitch I suppose.

Dead zero with the knob all the way down, just tested it out with some loud files.
 
Thanks for the advice, everyone. Sorry for not responding for so long, I forgot to check it while at college and haven't received any notifications. Just came to review some stuff said in the thread, and I saw 3 pages! I think I'll be going with the Behringer Xenyx 302 USB, that way I can still afford a boom arm.

TBH dude I would seriously save up. Behringer is fine on a budget but it's not the kinda thing you'll want to keep long term. Another $50 might take some time to save up but it'll be worth it not to have something you'll be aiming to replace. I've fiddled with Behringer's low-end stuff in the past and did not come away impressed.

Not to mention if you're using it with a condenser mic, chances are this will NOT power it. That mixer has about 15v of power and condenser mics need 48v. This thing is more like a USB mixer with some cheap interface parts thrown in so they can call it an all-in-one package.

Fair enough. I guess I'll scrap that idea and look into the Scarlett Solo. The only issue with that is that I won't be able to afford a boom arm, and the AT2020 XLR version doesn't come with a stand xD

Save up a little bit. I advise this more than anything. Buy once, buy forever. You don't need some $500 interface with a $1500 microphone but going slowly from mic to mic to mic and getting a $50 interface that you'll replace in a few months with a $100 one just ends up costing more in the long haul.

It's relevant to the topic. It's an audio interface. pictures are worth 1000 words videos are worth 1000 pictures. I just happen a video of an audio interface which is the title of this thread. He doesn't have to look at it but if he wanted to know what it was he could get a better idea of it. I don't see anything wrong with it. If the moderators flag it then I won't do it but it's not like he's not going to search for audio interfaces himself.

It's still self advertisement. You could've easily dropped the name and left it at that. However, you went the extra step to advertise a video of yours. I know I sound like a jerk for saying it, but self advertisement is still self advertisement.
