Hello Guys ,

I have noticed a lot of youtubers when they started their career they were a " youtubers " but when they succeed and became very famous with millions of subscribers and views , suddenly they became movies stars , merchandise managers and you name it

Of course I won't mentions theirs names because some of them I still like and respect but I think this is a betrayal for their fans who made them reach this level of success and the reason is because everyone can watch youtube videos for free but now they ask you to purchase their movies !! .

and the funny thing I watched some of them when they started youtube they discussed certain topics and ideas in thier videos and after monthes he/she deleted the videos !! after getting many subs because of the controversy that he/she made !!

In other hand there are very few youtubers who actually still loyal to their fans and every time you open youtube you have that feeling that this youtube is there , I am gonna go to his/her channel and 100% I will find her/him uploaded a new video

what do you think guys ?

Well, some betrayal yes, being a "movie star" if you consider yourself a movie star for being famous on YouTube, your just plain greedy, with the buying merch and buying certain videos, it's a little something called profit and putting food on the table, because some YouTubers only get 100 dollars per video, or maybe even less, or they're just looking to make extra money, put yourself in there shoes, would you sell merch? Would you have certain buyable things? To me i'd be fun to let people have different types of shirts, shoes, hoodies, etc. But calling yourself a Movie Star is just saying you're better than the rest and you're just so good, when in reality people should look at it a little more like, hey, they take the time to watch me, I should spend more time editing, commenting, replying, tweeting, etc. But some don't, Just my opinion :)

Well as long as they still continue to make videos, I think they are just providing themselves with more steady income and a fall back just in case. If opportunities arise to expand yourself, who seriously wouldn't take them? Its a matter of how true you stay to your fanbase and always rememeber who helped you grow.

Lol do you feel betrayed when your favourite actor chooses to stop film making and start doing other meadiums? I can imagine some kind of dissapintmeant but honestly they don't owe you or any other viewer a thing they are free people as much as you are. I can imagine if you got a contract for doing films or anything that you would dream to do you would jump at the opportunity to do something you could never do before.

And that part about why you feel betrayed makes me so annoyed why do you feel so entitled that everything must be free?

These are all real people you are talking about. People who need to eat, pay a mortgage/rent, provide for families as well as themselves. YouTube may or may not last forever so when your time comes you need to capitalize on it.

Now do I think that this means you should abandon your values? Of course not. But none of their income is ever guaranteed. These aren't typically salary people.

If you make your money from videos, what's to say you can always make a living off this? What happens if your videos suddenly become worthless? Google sudden decides to stop throwing money at YouTube, bam it's gone.

In order for a lot of content creators to stay afloat they need to have other means of supporting themselves, be it advertising or otherwise. Most of these people started off never expecting to blow up, and now they did they want to do it full-time (can you really begrudge them?). If advertising is what will help them succeed in the future, then hell yes they should do it because this medium may not be around forever~

There is a real sense of ownership that viewers have over YouTube creators that's easy to understand, but still a little bit misguided, I think. Because we're able to interact more directly with them, we seem to think that these folks "owe" us something for the privilege of having us watch and for them to get money from it. I see a lot of complaining that YouTube folks "sell out" or are shirking their responsibilities if they don't produce enough content or the same kind of content we would like to see.

None of the people who create on YouTube owes us a darned thing, though. They're using a platform they don't own and that could honestly be taken away from all of us at the whim of Google at any time, and nobody could do a thing about it. Finding other places to use the notoriety they've gained on YouTube is just plain smart, even though it may feel like some kind of a betrayal to those who feel like we're somewhat responsible for these folks getting noticed in the first place.

I don't think that they're traitors. If they become successful of course they're going to want to expand and explore new horizons. No one can expect anyone to stay in the same place forever. It's like an office clerk who later becomes a CEO. Change and growth is inevitable for those that are ambitious :)
